IanC
Folks, First attempt at requesting help via the forum. Hopefully someone can help or confirm my fears..... I'm trying to remove the lower wishbones of my Spitfire 1500 and all is going well so far. The nuts are removed no problem but the left hand bolt (on both sides) is on the inside of the wishbone. This means I can't remove it because it hits the engine mounting plates on the chassis. Apart from hacksawing the bolts I can't see any alternative. Am I being a bit thick and missing a trick? Has anyone had experience of this and can offer any advice? Thanks for any feedback IanC
Pete Lewis
yes undo the single nut on the pivot bracket inside the chassis and remove the arm and its pivot bracket its good time to examine the through stud for corrosion as well Pete
johny
We really need to get the Spitfire (and any others if possible) workshop manual on line🙏 The Vitesse/GT6 one I downloaded for free is similar in many aspects and describes Ian's job perfectly but of course the correct manual would be better..... Pete Lewis
most things are covered by Steves pages http://vitessesteve.co.uk/Servicemanuals you may need to shuffle between all models but many operations are very common
johny
yes but considering the numbers of mk4/1500 Spits around it would be nice to get a manual up for them wouldnt it?

IanC
Pete, thanks for the comment. Worked a treat. Both sides off and fully dismantled now. 🙂 Johny, are you refering to the Triumph Repair Operation Manual?
johny
well my Vitesse GT6 one is called Workshop Manual as is the one for the early Spitfires but Im not sure what the one for your model is called. If youre keeping the car for a while it would be a worthwhile investment if you cant get it free as theres usually plenty to do on our cars😁

johny
Many of the photos in the Vitesse GT6 one are very dark so not easy to make out but the original paper manual is pretty much the same☹️
