  1. I've got a box of NOS Strombergs under the bench. It's not until you take your current ones and compare them with the new ones you realise how worn they are. It's a testament to their innate quality they have often lasted 40 or more years of often near total neglect.
  2. 95% of 'problems' with Strombergs dissapear with either a new rubber diaphragm or sorting the usual after 40 plus years worn spindles. Any Air leaks and Strombergs, a precision instrument, play up. The reason they were fitted to US market cars was Federal regulations required that carbs would stay in tune for 50,000 miles. Most SU's would struggle to do 5,000. Everything you need to know about rebuilding strombergs, including setting the temperature compensators. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/Carbs/CarbsI/CarbsI.htm
  3. Pull the central HT lead off, spin the engine til the light goes out, Refit lead.
  4. Hi John, You need a Type C MCB. Fit a 16a or 20a one in your breaker box and run some heavy duty flex to a dedicated 16a 'Commando' socket like this one with an isolator. Switch. https://www.eleconline.co.uk/zdriverel/form/catsel/INDUSTRIAL-PLUG/SKTS/product/901345?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuLr2oayY1QIVwantCh2rnA2GEAQYDyABEgI69_D_BwE Fit the appropriate blue plug on your welder and compressor and away you go.
  5. How to publish online http://help.issuu.com/hc/en-us/articles/204816098-How-to-upload-and-publish-on-issuu Yes, it really is that simple. It can also be used by anyone within the club with a log in to upload newsletters or catalogues for the shop.. Yes John, the other part of the job can be far more interesting!
  6. I stumbled across an almost unused 3hp 100l 8cfm Hydrovane a few months ago.. Factory was using it as a spare and decided to shift it, £500 with a service thrown in before delivery. 240 volt too - be sure to fit a slow blow 20a breaker. Pleased? You bet, and so are the neighbours now I've got rid of the 50l 2.5hp machinery Mart epic noisemaker.
  7. It's not a case of expertise being required, it's an acceptance that the world has moved on and DIY publish it yourself online is now no harder than posting a picture on Facebook. The artwork to produce the online version already exists at the end of each month with the pages created to print the Courier. ISSUU is ubiquitous and requires just a few clicks to upload and publish anything, and is used by everyone from major corporates, to Mss Minchin publishing the local knitting circles newsletter. If anyone is claiming an online magazine is 'hard','complex', 'very technical' or 'expensive', the issue (pun intended), lies with them, not the child's play simple process of online publishing.
  8. Well to be sure, the rapid rise in mental health issues in young people is being put firmly at the rise of virtual relationships and interactions in under 30's. My granddaughter was of the opinion that she was hugely popular unlike her 'loser' grandparents as she had 850 Facebook friends, while we had only 30. It went completely over her head when I asked her how many of these 850 had she actually met face to face - but they're all my friends!. The other problem with social media is the 'echo chamber' effect, where everyone tries to impress each other. Everyone on Facebook has a more perfect life than you.
  9. everydats a school day. The Malta badge on the Herald? There was a factory on Malta. http://www.triumphinitaly.it/public/articoli//Car_Assembly_Ltd_en.pdf
  10. Facebooks main aim is to form links between users that can be datamined for advertising revenue. Facebook - horizontal - the message spreads out to a myriad often unconnected or uninterested users by shares. Message board - vertical - the message requires active participation by interested parties.
  11. And further to my above point. The loss of the previous TSSC forum was simply catastrophic to the Marque. Very many years of no longer existing, (we are all getting older and many are no longer with us), knowledge was lost.
  12. I hope not. Social media such as Facebook is fine for instant responses and posting pictures, but as an enduring resource of information, they are useless.
  13. Yes John, that's what we use. Once we've sent the .pdf files off to the printers for this months magazine, I upload the previous months magazine using the previous months files. PDF SAM, (free) to merge them into a magazine, ISSUU (also free) to publish them. Then just post a link on our website. Job done.
  14. Somewhere there is also a video from inside a competitive Mk3 Spitty Good spot! Here's the car! Proper road racing on Malta! http://classicsportscarclubmalta.com/uncategorized/mdina-grand-prix-2012-club-members-participation/ Video of the car
  15. Yes, caught my eye too, really nice looking thing. Shut lines are some of the some of the best I've seen. On closer inspection, does indeed look like a Malta badge. Good spot!
