  1. Gday all. Just wanted to get some feedback on various suppliers I’m looking at for parts etc. Comments on any or all of these would be great. Woollies for rubber trim etc Vintage chrome company in Carlisle for rechroming stuff. Jigsaw Racing for suspension and brakes Superflex for polyprop bushes etc Park Lane Classics for seats and interior trim (Owen there is being very slow at responding to me) Any help much appreciated. Richard
  2. Yes I’m actually looking forward to that stage as it will mean I’m making progress ! I did it fine with my Stag, but it helped that I’d also done the dismantling and followed a friend’s advice to label EVERY terminal as I removed it. The person who dismantled the GT6 unfortunately used shears to remove the loom.........
  3. Received my new GT6 harness set from Autosparks this morning and I’ve got to say I’m very impressed. Shiny new and neatly bagged up and most importantly for me all the terminal connectors are attached ! Looking forward to reconciling it with a wiring diagram in about six months from now......!!
  4. Thanks Pete. I’ve noted Paddocks already and have no intention of getting another Triumph after this - big saloon or not ! My dad had a chocolate brown 2000 which was a lovely old Exec saloon.
  5. Ah ! Thanks a lot for this - I had come across them before and then lost the name. They look useful. Richard
  6. Sounds like a nice Spring Run to me.....
  7. Hi guys - don't trouble to reply to this as I'm just using this post to store a wee list of parts suppliers thanks to all of you and my own exploration. Rimmers (last resort !) T D Fitchett Moss Europe Paddocks Canley Classics Mick Dolphin Chic Doig David Manners Hocky in Stirling (Stag supremo for those who are interested but has a pal with GT6 stuff) Park Lane Classics Merlin Motorsport classiccarspares.co.uk Littleport Boat Haven for sunroof parts ANGclassiccarparts Namrick Nuts and Bolts Carbuilder Specialists
  8. Many thanks guys - what a good forum this is ! I’ll need to join the club properly and start using the shop.
  9. Does anyone have experience of getting one of these made ? Better still, has anyone got one no longer in use and is willing to sell ? I wonder if any parts people sell them. Richard
  10. Thanks Colin. That’s very interesting and explains the “O” after my number in the log book. DVLA have of course printed it as a zero on the end of the number which confuses !
  11. Thanks Doug. I think they are just duff commission plates from a previous restoration which is a pity. Not sure if one can organise a new one anywhere ? I think the log book number minus the last zero actually looks right as the page you referenced (which I have seen before and agree is excellent) suggests I’m a 1972 Mk III immediately following a change to the overdrive inhibitor switch. I’m hoping your MkII comment isn’t quite right if you have another look ? You’re right I’ve got a MkIII.
  12. Good morning all. I've been removing the commission plates for a body dipping. The numbers look really odd to me ! Car No. XK2S1-98514A, on a black plate headed "Austin Morris Group, British Leyland UK Ltd".... Body Number position has a red plate saying "Commission No." with the number D205 091411 My log book commission number is KE118340, which I suspect is a mistake and should be KE11834. The engine number on the log book is ME52803HE, although I know I've got a new engine. I think a previous owner has muddled some commission plates - any thoughts on this lot ? Richard
  13. Been at this stage previously with my Stag. Hopefully onwards and upwards with the GT6 !
  14. Hi Doug. Could you give me an eBay reference for these ?
  15. Thanks Darren. I’d already been recommended to go there so that’s ideal to hear re the connectors etc.
  16. Hi all. Can anyone recommend one of the suppliers of new looms for the GT6 ? In particular, I'm interested to know who if anyone, supplies looms with terminals already attached, or even with them labelled ! I can obviously get hold of a wiring diagram and I'm happy to work it all out, but just wondered if any one option did it better than others. Thanks a lot.
  17. Hi all. Any recommendations for who to go to for replacement seat foams and covers ? I’ve seen a number of decent looking suppliers but there may be a known good one. Non-headrest seats with recliners. Has anyone had experience of finding foams with more thigh support and particularly more lumbar support ? Finally, has anyone had success with raising the front of the squabs by some sort of bracket arrangement to improve posture for a taller person ? Many thanks for any help.
  18. Thanks. Haven't come across Moss or Canley before.
  19. Thanks Kevin. He's up here and I've spoken to him previous,y but had forgotten him.
  20. Hi all. Existing Stag owner (my Dads car originally and a bare metal restoration five years ago). Thought I'd maybe cured myself of the urge but I owned two Spitfires in my youth and always lusted after a GT6. Now I've just bought one, and to make matters worse it's a half completed restoration. It's gorgeous and I'm really looking forward to putting it together. As a newcomer to the GT6 I would welcome any input on good and bad things to do in the resto. It's a K Reg Mk III with transverse rear spring and overdrive. Also any useful suppliers of parts other than the Brothers would be good. Thanks for any help you can offer. Richard
