Standard Triumph had a factory in New Zealand where they made Triumph cars. To get the cars out to the dealers delivery lorries were used. I have this photo from Andrew Newman on facebook which shows Triumph 2000 MkI's being taken off site by H Boyce & Co Ltd truck.

  2. Evans & Cutler in North Street Totnes Devon. In the 1960s my late father sourced 2 x 2000s (Mk 1 and Mk2) then early Stag from them.  My 21st pressie was a 6 year old Herald saloon from them.  Also had outlet in Valley Road Plympton in the 1970s.  Purchased 1500 Spitfire in Java in 1975.  BL Friday car - from new faulty voltage stabilizer, nearside door lock and first time I locked the boot the barrel came out with the key.  UJs went at 1000 miles and in all 3 times under warranty.  After a year my husband did all UJs and I drove it for 100,000 miles without a hitch.  GTK 949 N.  Also had bodyshop at Harbertonford and a facility at Ivybridge.

Thanks for that info about the premises Sue. I will update my blog post about Evans ans Cutler :http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/triumph-car-dealers-3-evans-and-cutler.html

Number 34 in my series of articles about Triumph car dealers this is article about Mumfords who had garages in Plymouth, Truro, Exeter, Newton Abbot, Tiverton and Torquay. I believe Mumfords of Newton Abbot was established following the take over of A C Bulpin & Son Ltd who had been a Standard Triumph garage in 1955. I am not sure of the date of the take over.

Do you have any info about Mumfords, Newquay Road, Truro.

Recently picked up these bars of compound. Anybody got details of AAA branded compound. Am told the darker the colour the harder the cut. Before I start doing some tests just thought I would test the wisdom of the cloud.

  6. Without seeing it I guess you may talking about a core plug. Core plugs are disposable - you have break them to remove them. Posting a photo so we can see what you are talking about would help.

  9. To measure the capacity of a cylinder with a dome just use a syringe as you would for the head.

Run the piston down the bore an exact known distance, then seal up the piston/bore gap with a thin smear of Vaseline.

Fit a clear acrylic plastic cover to the bore that has a small drilled hole, and start squirting....

Knowing the volume of the space = height of space x area of space. The volume of the dome is equal to the volume just calculated - the volume squirted in
