  1. This drive seems to be used on every british car!
  2. Is it this bit I need to get out? Looks very happy there.
  3. It's not just this then? https://caterhamparts.co.uk/clutch-cables/2443-quill-angle-drive-square-end.html?search_query=speedo+quill&results=29
  4. Hold on! I knew it! i didn’t throw the old one out from last year! it seems good. it turns freely and smoothly. hows the square cable bit look to you? and which way should it go in?
  5. I’ve retired for the day. I’ll get in deeper next time. It’ll be a while as I’m away for a month. Shame I’m so close to everything working! very pleased with the flashers now though. No idea why they were disconnected. I’ll let you know when I get that tunnel off. i think I’m probably going to install hatches for the drive and oil level. I heard thus was a thing worth doing.
  6. Oh I like the stretched idea. I’ll give that a go.
  7. On a positive note I just found the wire for the flashers! They’re now working. For the first time since I’ve had the car. so when I get the speedo working I’ll be 100% I assume there will be champagne
  8. That’s just a picture of the type I have from rimmers. Can the be repaired? Or is it likely I’ll need a replacement again? If it’s a replacement I’ll wait until I can get the part before pulling the interior out.
  9. Me bloody speedo not working now! The cable isn't spinning but it isn't broken either, I pulled the inner cable out. I replaced the drive about a year ago with a new washer too. I'm in 2 minds if i should start on this job today. Could it be anything apart from a new drive? Should i buy one before starting?
  10. All working now. What a palaver! I've no idea what happened to that poor cable. I suspect the number plate light shorting out. I'll never know.
  11. Ah ha! It had come unplugged. Obviously that whole wire is now toast. But I can run new in from here!
  12. Oh dear. It's all burnt up, but still no power. I think it's broken somewhere i can't get to. Anyone know where it splits to go to the front side lights? It's obviously ok to there as the front 2 are working.
  13. I think the opening and closing of the boot wore the insulation down. I'll strip it all back tomorrow
  14. That's a furry thing on the Mini next door's aerial
  15. Well it was brilliant. Really well organised. Lots of marshals and signs. loads of interesting cars and bikes too. The pubs were well prepared and had outdoor bars and BBQ and you could get a shandy straight away. Definitely recommended. The only downside was the heat. Next time i'll bring a table and umbrella! very little shade.
  16. Ok fab. I think i know which one it should be. I'll see if i can follow it back. Bloody petrol tank and some 'remedial patch up work' i did with fibreglass filler might be covering it now.
  17. Yes they are. I feel i'm one wire away from success!
  18. I'm guessing one of the red wires should have power
  19. My mother followed me part of the way to Wales and she told me my tail lights aren't working, I found that a couple of the wires in the back had worn out and had fused together! I split them up and wired them back into where they should be going and still no joy. I have a reverse light that still works and the red wires in the photo go to the tail lights and number plate light. I assume somewhere there is a live wire from the front side lights that needs to connect to the rear ones. Dammed if i can find it. It's a bit of a mess back there! The cats not helping as always!
  20. I can be found there every Boxing Day with my mum. lovely little pub
