  1. I only wanted Radio 6! I kept on re tuning but no difference. I've been fiddling today and i connected the adapter straight to the battery to make sure it was getting a good ground and it completely cuts the sign out to the point where it just displays 'No DAB Available' Bit weird and i can't see how that can "Sometimes happen" and surely if it's not powered it's not as good? I'll fit the new aerial so it's all a perfect system and ring them again if i don't get a good enough reception. I can't imaging there isn't a load of transmitters covering the south east these days. Looks good though.
  2. In other news. I've had to replace my clarion stereo after only 2 years as it stopped making noise. I decided to spend a bit of extra cash and get a Classic Car Stereo Vintage 100 DAB replacement. I also ordered the DAB Adapter module so i could use my existing aerial. It all went in easy enough, and was receiving DAB before i even plugged the aerial in. When i wired the adapter up (one red live wire and one black ground) It cut the sound off. I rang Classic car Stereo and got to speak to someone straight away, which was nice. He said he'd heard of this issue and i needed to just disconnect the red power wire. I did this and it started to work again. I went for a drive and the reception isn't very good at all. It cuts out completely when i start to leave London and only re appeared once i was well within Brighton. I've ordered a new aerial as my old one is a bit stiff and the signal wire has been cut and twisted together by the PO. Hopefully that will improve things. Anyone else have experience of these or similar units?
  3. Well the 'Italian tune up' worked a treat.. Running lovely now. If i had any issue it would be that it's idling a little high. Around 1000rpm.
  4. Oh i like the idea of the Italian Tune up! I've got a trip from London to Brighton coming up soon. Perfect!
  5. Well i got around to changing the plugs. Here's one of the ones that came out
  6. I'll pull a plug out when i get a chance and get a photo. But i remember it being wet with oil. I did smell the exhaust (in sainsbury's car park and got some funny looks) Smelt good to me. I gave him a good rev too and no smoke. He's running lovely as well. Someone put this on my 'desk' at work.
  7. He’s been sitting for about 3 months. I just started him and took him the 300m to the garage for an MOT and oil/filter change. im wondering if he just needs a good run after sting for so long.
  8. No idea about the coil. It's black? Maybe i should replace that too?
  9. Here's a quicky (maybe) I want to change my spark plugs. The old ones have got oiled up (also a little concerning) but i'll monitor that. What's the best ones to buy with my accuspark points. (well not points) BP6ES? There is BP5E in there at the moment.
  10. I'm looking forward to learning what that all means!
  11. Ok. I think i have it in my head now. I found a picture in the Workshop Manual too. I'll remove the steering wheel and the switches and hopefully have a Ooooooh I see!
  12. Amazing! It was the steering column bumpy bit that was what i wanted to get my head around. When i got the car the outer steering column was upside down! Completely lost steering on the way home. Luckily only when i was loading it onto a trailer. I'll get on this next!
  13. Any experience with non canceling indicators? I'm struggling to find a drawing. Even in the workshop manual
  14. Well, the old speedo drive had basically fallen to bits. The quill bit was still stuck perfectly into the small gear though, so i reused that instead of my glued one, so a quick rebuild and it all works great. I did cut a hole out of the tunnel cover though. For next time! All sealed up with duct tape and it's lovely and quiet inside now. I even gave the top of the cover a respray. Spent the rest of the day changing all the hoses for new and changing the coolant for 4 Life stuff. Thought i might as well as it's pretty much the same price as regular coolant via the club shop. In the process of refitting the speedo cable into the back of the speedo i found the reason the flashers were not working and re connected the wire. So now the only thing that's not working on the car is the indicator doesn't cancel in one direction (i forget which). So close to 100%!!
  15. I've reassembled with JB Kwik and locktite 638 around the collet. You'd be amazed what you have knocking around a 120 year old theatre workshop!
  16. I’ve got that bit out. I’m going to crimp it and glue it
  17. I think my best bet is to stick the old one back in again as the new Caterham 'quill' is also shorter.
  18. So half a mill shouldn't matter in the gearbox end?
  19. Well it arrived very quickly, but I think it's too small.
  20. I've ordered one, i'll let you know how it fits
