  1. Hi Pete. Thanks for that. Seems its the same light then👍. Cheers Nick
  2. Hi all. My Vitesse is nearly complete from a bit of a overhaul but. I need to source a new set of front side lights. Found them on the bay at £63, these are listed as L584. I,ve also found the same No L584 listed for a MG Midget but at only £49. Does anyone know if these are the same parts. The actual part numbers, on other usual Triumph sites, are different ,but that maybe for the different cars. I know back in the day a lot of parts were used on lots of cars. I just don,t want to pay a premium because it says Vitesse. We all know a cake isnt a cake when it says wedding before it!. Any feedback greatly received. Cheers Nick.
  3. Ok. Didn't see the roadworthy bit on govs site. Hopefully will be done by the time tax is due. should be going off for paint soon. Cheers guys.
  4. Hi all. To get back on track. My Vitesse is having some restoration work done. It should be about another month. The thing is my insurance is due this week as is the mot. Obviously i cannot take for the mot. The tax is the end of feb. I,m going to insure it even though i wont have it. Will i be able to tax/execempt it without an mot or will i need to sorn it. Its getting a bit confusing eh!. It is already classed as Historic. Will be getting an Mot anyway as i think its wise. The powers that be will only need some fatal accidents against us to find a reason to make it harder for us to enjoy our cars. Cheers Nick
  5. I replaced my drivers seat diaphragm with one off the bay. You can get one for about £20-£25. be warned tho the one i got didn't line up so had to drill some extra holes in the frame surround. It is a bit of a b***** of a job. i slotted a old screwdriver in the end. I tried a piece of board under for a while but i ended up sitting to high. looking like some strange captain on a yacht?. The first one i tried split due to stretching it to much, so the supplier said, tho he did send me another free. I then attached it at the back and sides and used some strong wire to attach front hooks. Hope this helps a bit. Nick

Hi Shaun. Ok get what you mean know. No worries. No offence taken. I,m lucky to have a cabinet maker for a brother in law so hes gonna sort it for me. think the tolerances are a lot more in wood tho eh!. i machine a lot of ally and stainless steel and do tend to do things exact, even diy much to my wifes amusement. Anyway Vitesse is in garage now getting a 3 grand tart up?. Cheers again Nick.

Not sure what you mean by the first comment but thanks anyway. A tolerance of plus or minus 0.002mm is common in my game so the difference between 50mm and 2" is a lot if you only want to cut a hole once.?. Anyway Cheers again for the measurements. Nick

Hi Pete. Thanks for that. ? I,m going to take it as the 2" size as probably English sizes. 50mm is nearly 1mm smaller. Sorry not being pedantic ,but i,m a precision engineer and work to very fine tolerances. How much clearance would i need i to cut. Would 52mm holes be adequate. Cheers Nick

Hi All. Just a quickie. I,m going to get a spare dashboard for my Vitesse re-veneered. The question is, What is the diameter of the Fuel, Oil and Temp gauges, assuming they are all a standard size. I,m thinking of moving them from the right side to the middle. Cheers for any info. Nick
  10. Hi All. Well i went to the southern meet at The 7 stars on Tuesday. I just want to say thank to all who made me feel very welcome. Anyway hope to see you all soon. Cheers again Nick.

  13. Hi All. My Name is Nick Tucker. I,ve had my Vitesse Convertible for over 3 years now and it still makes me smile everyday?. I drive her to work everyday and wouldnt have it any other way, bit breezy and chilly in winter ,but i love it. Anyway since i,ve had her she,s had a lot done underneath. New brakes, fuel pipes, driveshafts, bearings the list goes on. Had to do as and when needed. she,s now soon to be getting some new bodywork, a new hood and a respray to make her even better. My wife is starting to call her Triggers broom!. She,s a dark red which i think is Damsan, she,s staying that colour but i,m going for the white stripe and headlights look. Sorry for rambling. Cheers Nick
  14. Hello All. I,m new on here. I,ve had my 1971 Vitesse convertible for the past 3 yrs and in that time i,ve replaced or upgraded pretty much all of the mechanicals on her. Inc drive shafts, brakes, bearing bushes and assorted engine parts. I,ve been umming and arring over whether to now sell up and go for a Stag as i fancy a V8. Have now decided to keep what i have as am too attached to her now. think i,ve seen too many stags lately but have,nt seen a another Vitesse. So pretty exclusive if you ask me eh. Anyway sorry for rambling just wanted to give some background. Gonna restore her bodywork now instead. My question is about lower rear wings i,ve seen on Rimmer and James Paddock. is that the whole wing or do you have to get the lower forward part and the wheel arch repair. Got some good guys to do the work but i need to source the panels. Anyway thanks for reading Regards Nick.
