aha so both are swingers !!! doesnt help number 10 though .
there is the drive shaft lengths on the 1500 that affect camber being 1/2" longer its got to be down to spring manufacture and geometry
lowering blocks .......... wonderfull things
thought...... is the spring base leaf fitted under the swinger box and the plate through above the bottom leaf ??
Pete
Hi, they were hd springs from rimmers. And assembled as they had come off. Thought about lowering blocks, it may come to it. Theres always a good use of a sandbag though.

I have fitted new rear springs to both of my spitfires, they no longer sag but both stand too upright tucking in slightly. I can't see them when driving! Will they settle down with use? I did tighten up when everything on the ground under pressure.

foyles ..........you need to escape more
Boyle's Law, an ideal gas law which states that the volume of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to its absolute pressure at a constant temperature. ... In other words, the product of pressure and volume is constant for a fixed mass of ideal gas at fixed temperature.
remind me of a good curry

Reminds me of the time the retort door opened mid cook and all the cans came out. The contents hit the ceiling, 10 metres up! Temperature high, volume/pressure change. Result dog food on the ceiling.

Yes back to the old school ring and ball the ring will expand more than the ball so heating the hub not the shaft should break the tapers molecular grip as the metal expands linear around its circumference must grow more than the shaft diameter.
Im sure this saga is not played out yet
Pete
I did that and the keyway broke when it did come apart!

I think that this has gone beyond separating a hub from an axle. It is the stubborn proving of a point and is man against machine.
Adrian
Is this like drawing a sword from a stone, who ever separate this hub and shaft shall be king of the road.

If the number plate is directly in front of grill yes. If attached to the bumper with the spoiler on no.

Thank you, will see about getting some boots as the ball joint is fine👍.

Try some fresh ep90 gl4 spec oil. Look at the drained oil, are there any black flex's in it? Make sure electrical connections are good, is the relay holding? Just to get you started.

I do like that, very neat and practical.

Strange I want an inca yellow one, but I have a modified carmine red one and a standard blue one so that will have to wait. When do you think your be painting, once thats done you get to the best bit of restoring, assembly.

As a last resort I had a forty ton press and a gas heat for a rear hub! It did come apart after a few taps but had the last laugh as the grove where the key sits broke.

Just read through and well done on keeping going, its always good when you get the main part of the welding complete. Look forward to it being painted, are you keeping it inca ?
