  1. This is the sensor https://www.t7design.co.uk/1-4-npt-thermal-sensor-adaptor-kit-0465-0465.html?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=googleshopping&gclid=Cj0KCQiA48j9BRC-ARIsAMQu3WQk38KNJUnsas0Y71GCpsKcpRQCLjlZ18Cvk1fgY0p66qqzzqUDGvgaAsChEALw_wcB
  2. I'd prefer a 70 year old male dribble to the 18 year old fountain! Gone the days I could hit the chewing gum stuck on the men's urinals at 6 feet away..... Iain
  3. The place that machined my rockers had three sets of TR4 roller rockers in from a client. The rollers turned up unassembled and some didn't fit on the shaft! Also one set had 3 inlet and 5 outlet rockers?!?! I'm sure the Moss ones are fine but a lorra dosh!
  4. As far as I can fathom I need to go from 5/8 UNF at the housing to 1/4 NPT for the fan sensor and whatever the water temp gauge sensor is (measures approx 16mm dia). So the Y or T piece needs ideally to be 5/8 UNF male (housing) with 1/4 NPT female (fan) and 5/8 UNF'ish female (water temp). Obviously this will not be a stock item so I will have to find at least an adaptor for the fan sensor. I could use the other side where the hose is, ideally a T piece for this option but you've set my very small grey cells into action! No1 issue now is controlling the rocker oil! Iain
  5. OK more research today to control the oil flow via the external feeder. I'm going for the needle valve option from MGA Control, thanks Peter Truman for the idea! Another plus is the valve is made in the UK, buy British! I've found this small valve for £25 which is way over spec but will do the job nicely. The cheap water valves are not rated for oil or over 100C so not an option. I'll fit using adaptors as the valve is 1/4 npt. This should give me all the control and restriction to get the flow just right (whatever that is!).UN SERIES - DATASHEET.pdf
  6. Haggis, I've just changed my rockers ( see Tappet Noise post). I finally used the bushed rockers and shaft from Moss and had the bushes honed to give 1-2 thou clearance from the measured shaft, they vary slightly in diameter hence the bushes need machining to match. In my opinion the correct way to go but not the cheapest. All up mine cost £350 including stripping old assembly and reassembling with new parts, roller rockers will set you back close on £1000 for no perceptible gain. Iain
  7. I'll try and blag a fitting from BOC! Iain
  8. Yep, you're quick I was posting my plumbing job for today! What site is it, the link doesn't work. Iain
  9. You got there mid post! I'll punt around for a Y piece, the Davies Craig fan sensor is 1/4 npt, I'll need to find out what my temp gauge sensor is but should be doable. Ta
  10. Pete, I got as far as identifying the GTR108. Do you know the female thread size in the thermostat housing? Iain
  11. +1 for variable as where you place the sensor will require you to tweek the temperature.
  12. Iain, on start up it doesn't spirt everywhere. I'll be fiddling tomorrow and take a video. Seems a lot of oil but then oil is also good for cooling springs etc! Iain
  13. Just gapped the rockers and took a general look around. I still think if I can get a Y piece to fit into the thermostat housing it would be the simplest solution. Does anyone know the housing thread size? This is my 'garage' .....before the lights go out!
  14. Using the bottom hose how did you run the cable? I have the controller sitting next to the battery and the cables to the fan and sensor are on the opposite side to the lower hose. Iain
  15. The Davies Craig controller is fully adjustable and will also control two fans. I had trouble fitting one! As it's a grim day today I'll have another look and fiddle. Iain
  16. The reason why I started this was because there wasn't any oil coming out of the rockers, not even a drip. However I will probably try it again without the feeder with the new pump etc if I don't get at least a few drips out of the front rocker I'll be refitting! Iain
  17. I will look to install a needle valve so I can play with the flow. Something else for me to fiddle with! Iain
  18. For me it will be easier to use the Davis Craig sensor which has the plug to the controller. You just unplug the rad sensor and replace with the water sensor. I could fit this to either a hose adaptor or into the head or thermostat housing. I'll make a decision and just go for it, they will all work. Iain
  19. Colin, I'll do more investigating. I thought the in line was supposed to be in the top hose? Iain
  20. I'm going for well oiled, it's Friday, the sun is over the yardarm and I have just poured a large Goslings Black Seal rum 🥃 My worry is although I have good pressure at the gauge take off does that mean I still have good flow/pressure to the front mains etc?
  21. Paul, Cold is nearly 90psi! Warm after 5 minutes still 80 all at tickover. On driving the car home 10 miles with the new oil pump and leaking TRGB rockers it was still 70psi at 3000rpm and 40+ at tickover. Iain
  22. In this location. It looks like a 5/8 NPT thread? I have a Davies Craig controller and the sensor has a 1/4 NPT thread but not sure what the head and temp gauge sender is.
  23. Video of new rockers VID_20201111_153924.mp4
  24. Rather than fit the sensor in a hose adaptor has anyone tried a Y piece or similar in the head so that the temp and leccy fan sensors can be fitted. If I can help it I would rather not cut and fit an adaptor in the top hose. I currently have a sensor that pokes in the rad but am not happy with it. Iain
  25. Finally, the Moss bushed rockers and shaft have been machined to fit 1-2 thou oversize to the shaft (0.5 to 1 thou each side) and fitted to my old pedestals etc. The machine shop said the bronze bushes were very hard. With the external oil feeder I now have oil to all rockers and excellent oil pressure. The oil dribbles out but not in torrents as with the TRGB recon unit. I haven't run it for long as when the autosensor lights go out in my garage (aka multistorey car park) I noticed one of the plug leads was arcing onto the dizzy cap clip. I have a new set of cranked head leads coming tomorrow and some Bosch WR78 plugs. When fitted I'll take it for a spin to check the oil pressure hot. Tried to upload video but failed will try on laptop not phone! Iain
