no idea if new are better or not  but a thought.............. these bed into the follower so that may have some damage inside its mating surface

    Pete

Will have a look at no1 cam follower.

But as im rebuilding the engine fully it will be renewed anyway.

  2. Hi all,

    I've never seen this..

Found out that the 200.000mile/325.000km engine im rebuilding had a cracked pushrod (no.1)

Going to replace all 8 (suspect metal fatigue) by used ones or new ones.

But would thrust old ones more then new..

Mine has a Dolly flywheel and pre-engaged starter - that was a nightware when it packed up! Anyway. I do also have a spitfire flywheel in the garage - but it would cost a fortune to send to Belguim. But can measure it up easily enough.

    That would be helpfull !

  6. Hi,

Im in search of another flywheel for my Spitfire 1500.

Now .. mine measures from teeth to teeth (diameter) 30,1cm.

    But it has 200.000miles

Friend of mine had one, but ringgear had a number on it.. Dolomite 1500 flywheel and measured 30,5cm

Ive had 2 guys that sell 1500 flywheels not sure if dolly or spitfire.

    But also measure 30,4 / 30,5cm.

Also.. Dolomite 1500 was never sold here !

So whats really the difference between them ?

It's illuminated, they were used on military vehicles including Landrover and Bedford lorries. It's actually a three position, off then pull on for one circuit and a second pull for a second circuit. Don't pay funny money for one, they're widely available.

    Had a look.

Always around 13 to £15 shipping for me 😅 (thanks brexit !)

Closest match may be the hazard light switch? Same idea of fitting, chrome bezel and all, just use the wires you need in behind, and you may be able to change the knob by painting or having one remade if you know anyone who could mould one?

    Also seen this switch.

Just need to find out if it has a light inside 😅
