Has anyone any experience of the type where the lower fixings are attached to the radiator bracket?
Yes mine are. No problem at all. But what I did do was to drill and bolt through the face of the bracket and the radiator support. Because the brackets are held with the radiator support bolts and if you want to remove the rad you have no support for the bonnet.

I'm sure when I got mine some years back, there was a warning it would not fit spits with the two intake tubes. Never worried me because I have K&N filters.

The manifold retaining nuts are 9/16" AF which is 14.3 mm so 15 mm may be a bit loose unless it is to fit over the rust!
Convinced that nobody was reading his reports, an engineer started inserting his own units such as furlongs per minute instead of metres/sec. No comments were received which confirmed his suspicions.
I know the nuts are 9/16 but I only have a couple of 9/16 spanners which I did not want to destroy. But plenty of 15mm spanners. It is slightly bigger but will get the nuts tight without any damage to the nuts.

Danny,
Excellent tool, what are the dimensions so I can copy.
Cheers

Just went and had a quick measure.
It's a 15mm spanner approx 200mm long.
First bend 35mm
2nd bend 55mm
Leaves about 100mm to the open end.

Have you a pressure gauge you can test to see if the pump is putting out too much pressure.
Is the petrol pump recently been changed.

You probably fitted the dizzy 180 deg out.
Danny

Good point.

Did the clamp hold the dizzy and stop it turning as previous comments. Because if the clamp is tight on the dizzy body and also secured on the dizzy pedistal and still the dizzy can move around then there could be a problem with the dizzy.
I can't see why the dizzy drive would have moved a few teeth out on the cam if you have not removed the pedistal.

I think you may have set it a TDC. Just move the distributor clockwise little to see if it starts.
Danny

Sounds like the clamp around the distributor.
There should be a bolt at the back that holds the clamp to the pedistal and the clamp itself fits in a groove around the distributor. I suspect its not posioned right to clamp it.

I bought a mc for my 1500 spit a couple of years ago. The push rod that came with it was much too long. Ended up fitting an adjustable one.

It should be done cold. The gauge should hold whatever reading the compression registers. Is the gauge faulty/Leaking.

I brought these covers in January. Black with white piping. I fitted them in February and very pleased with them. Great fit and they are softer than the covers I took off, they also look more like leather than the old ones.
I had already put new foam on the seats a few years ago so that helped.
The head rests did not have white piping too match the covers, so I unpicked the stitching and added my own.
I'm extremely pleased with them.

John,
If you intend to drive it with the tonneau on, it will flap like mad without the door poppers on the passenger side.

You could cut off the pipe flush then drill and tap to add hose connector. I've seen this done.

I'll try and get a photo later.

Hi John.
On my Spit 1500 they were already attached to the vent caps. But I do remember removing the caps 20 years ago for repaint. You can get to the nuts under the dash that hold the vents although not easy. There's no drilling required because the pegs should attach to small swivel plates and the plates are attached between the vent capping and dash using the same fixing as the capping. These plates allow the pegs to move to line up with the holes in the tonneau.

Might well be dead simple for you, Danny !
I have begun the bilateral wing and outer arch panel replacements in my slow plodding manner, not simple for me , let alone dead simple!
I suppose it's down to the individual but it must be easier than trying to fabricate an arch.

Electronic points are great. I always carry a spare unit but never needed it. Been running with it for about 10 years.

Made mine from aluminium covered in vinyl. Did the same with door cards and rear panel.
