Removed valance and infills and fitted later original spoiler off a spitfire will see if it make a difference to the handling
Didn't seem to make any difference to the handling of my spitfire when I removed it. Its main purpose may have been to force air into the radiator.

Just tuck it out of the way and forget. I also took my pdwa off and reverted to single line brakes.

I thought the spoiler was fitted to the valance, not instead of it.
No the spoiler is the valance. I know because I took the spoiler off my 1500 and got myself a mk4 valance.
Can't remember about the fixings though.

I had the same on the Spit after parking outside while doing work on garage. It was under a cover but water / condensation left large milky staines. Nothing would get rid of them as the water seems to get in the cellulose. I was told to leave it out in the sun and within a day or so they had all gone. I now use a good wax polish which seems to do the job.

Cant recommend anything but what worries me with vacuum is the possibility of pulling air in around the threads of the bleed nipple. I did one recently using a large syringe to pull fluid through and if I applied too much suction bubbles appeared from said thread....
Yes that's the problem with vacuum, but I did find by putting grease over the thread helped stop this.

I did the Spits hinges with shouldered bolts. Then drill the hinges to match the bolt shoulders.

We're the bores honed before new rings fitted.

I also use tesco momentum in my Spit 1500. Timing was set up on rolling road 17 deg btdc.

Wimpus,
I have looked everywhere online and cannot find a barrel replacement. The whole assembly as you know are ridiculously dear. Same as fitted to tr7.
Is it the same with the spare key if you have one. If so then it might be worth tryi g a breakers for a second hand one.

There must be a way of getting the barrel out and replacing it.
Possible held in with a pin.
I don't thing it will be the key that's worn as the lock should trap the shoulder of the key once it's turned in the lock so it won't pull out.

If it's the earth from battery to engine. connect it to the bellhousing.

The motalita wheel on my late Spit has to pins but didn't cancel too well so I slide a cut down lucas single bullet connector over each. The steering wheel does not touch the plastic cancel cam.
This cam must be fitted with the correct slot upwards or iit won't cancel. Before fitting the wheel operate the indicator then turn the plastic. Its obvious what way it should go.

Onto the top of the bellhousing bolts is the easiest. Which I believe is standard.

It's a GT6 so they were all the early style column
You learn something every day. Just because the mk3 gt6 looks a little like 1500 Spit I thought it would have the late stalks.
Danny

Looking at Kevin's profile it's the late indicator stalk.

The cancel lug can be turned 180 deg while in situe with the steering wheel removed. But I am talking about the late indicator stalk in this case.

I just done this, or sort of. My late Spit indicator stalk broke. Right hand stalks are about £60 and left hand about £30 from Ang Triumph.
I bought a left hand and moved it to the old right hand bracket. Not easy as when removing bracket some springs may drop out and the indicator ball bearing.
You will need the lefthand bracket to do this. I did thinks of putting it on the left but the wiper stalk would be back to front and didn't want to buy another. Plus I wanted to keep the quirkiness of the indicator on the right as all British cars once were.
Danny
Ps if you want the left hand back plate, your welcome to it.

I had exactly the same on just the boot lid when using cellulose. It was due to silicone contamination, probably from polish. Although rubbed Ed down and ubdercoted it came through overnight. It was back to bare metal and another respray.

Hi folks, unfortunately The spit didn’t make the show I did go along though there was some lovely cars 1 exceptional herald with revolution wheels. Anyway came home. Blew through the fuel line tank to pump but was spotless. I have rechecked the floats in the carbs ensuring they are 4.8mm from the top as per the triumph manual. Then on testing noticed that spark dropping off showing an intermitant spark at the plugs despite the inline tester showing a spark. As the plugs are brand new I have dugout the non ballasted coil and distributor with points and fitted. Car starts much better although likes more choke. Struggling to get the timing set seems to like it being 14deg btdc at least when I try to get it back to 10-12 the car stalls out. I haven’t done anything with the distributor (points and coil) spark appears to be very strong. Not sure if resetting the points is going to help. Notice the coil to be very hot also. Thought I would give everyone an update so far not out of the woods yet but think it has been a step in the right direction. And a big thankyou for all the help encouragement it is very much appreciated. Thankyou all.
Mine is set at 18deg btdc. This was set on a rolling road. So stick with 14 if it runs better.

My Spit was tuned on a rolling road and the timing is set for 18deg btdc. But the dizzy was also modified to give mor advance. I think 10deg is a starting point but to get the best is to advance the timing enough without pinking.
Also I would check fuel pump is putting out the right pressure.

Sounds the same problem I had on my Spit. Brakes locked on. Released pressure on one nipple to release but as soon as I applied brakes they locked on. Had to release the pressure again and drive home on handbrake. Result was a new master cylinder.

I had the same on my Spit when under a cover for two weeks when working on the garage. I used an hair dryer which helped but leaving out in the sun worked and all the marks have gone.
