yes but the herald has vitesse trim wood capping dash and bumper trims so not sure which one to part with paul

having both a 1600 vitesse and a herald with 1500 engine the herald seems more lively but with out the same exhaust note , not sure hich one i prefer opinions

first thing to do is check you have a spark wont start with out that at the dist plugs paul

properly nothing i have pulled a lot of boxes in my time found all sorts, nuts washers in the bellhousing .

when you say wont start is it trying to fire , if not good spark at points spark from points whilst turning the engine over ignition on , if yes move to carb spray east start or pour some petrol into carb does the engine now try to start? have you checked the king lead from coil to dist is ok, its got to be something simple

done that yesterday with dot 4 , only painted the bulkhead area a short while back poured water over it but too late ruined .

so when you spray the easy start in do you have it on full choke . if it fires you have a fuel problem could be a weak pump. spilt diaphragm . could try gravity feeding the petrol just to eliminate blockages

if been left a long while your correct had that same problem paul

will run on easy start enough to prime the carb though

probably choke problem if it fires on easy start , mine took a bit of starting today needed full choke for around 10 mlnutes if tried to push in a bit would cough splutter, mind you minus 1 in farnham surrey .

i would pull the choke on manually at the carbs while someone starts it for you, see how that goes could also be a weak mixture damp on leads cap for starters .

sounds more like a carb problem to me , is it just cold days or damp days

have 2 sets only broken herald spitfire and a scimitar GTE could be from that ?

correct pete will find the problem on mine when i swop the gearbox works for now though

no of the slave cylinder so could move it forward more. not saying it is the correct thing to do but sorted mine out , before would grate trying to engage gear the pedal now seems firmer. was a new slave and master cylinder well blead, worth a go

Anyone know where i can purchase a centre propshaft bearing for my hiace van . no local factors can help toyota have just quoted me £248 +vat seems i have the changeover model REG LS57JPO , seems a lot of money for bearing and carrier paul

i do building maintenance for a car body repair shop in surrey , they have just completed work on a mga came bare metal they carried out some body repairs total respray great job better than new. i asked what it had cost the owner told will have no change from 10k

had the same on mine ground a bit of the slave pushed it forward clamped up has worked fine since , no idea why it was a after market part slave cylinder . could have been that ?

well i had fords vauxhalls back then . cortina that would not start cold mornings vauxhall viva that rusted away , they had faults fond memories for me .
which is quicker better drive vitesse or herald with 1500 spitfire engine

no overdrive herald uprated diff, the vitesse engine sounds better but herald more fun to drive .
