Just to finish this off I took the rad to Bryan (really nice guy and very knowledgable) as per Richard’s recommendation and he did a cracking job. (see picture). Rad now back on car and one pleased customer many thanks again for all the advice and recommendations M

Thanks Neil, It did seem a bit high to me. I think I may give Bryan a go, as my rad was certainly not as damaged as your one. Just have to get it off the car now! M

Many thanks Richard, I have no idea who Dan is either. Put it down to old age! 🙄

Thanks for the info. I am hoping to stay original if I can Dan, I’m in SE area London, Kent way. Easy to get to Sussex and Surrey

Hi Neil, I have just received a quote from Aaron to refurb my Herald’s rad. They have quoted £295+vat. They do look very good at what they do, as your post confirms, but it looked a little steep to me. Could I be cheeky and ask how much your work cost? Does anyone else have any suggestion? Many thanks

Thanks Richard, really helpful

Thanks Clive. I think it’s an 039 code with the terminals closer to the bulkhead. I will take a look at the Tanya website which looks helpful. It appears they recommend the 063 coded battery.

Hi, The battery that I have had on my Herald 13/60 for the last 14 years has finally expired. (Nothing lasts forever these days!) I currently have a Bosch Silver 12v 43Ah 390A. It is a post fitting and I have had a look in Halfords but can’t find an exact equivalent. Looking for advice on the best cost effective replacement so recommendations welcome. My car has no fancy gadgets (not even a radio) so doesn’t have a particularly big draw. All advice gratefully received many thanks M

Hi, Can anyone recommend a good company to rebuild a Herald 13/60 engine? It’s for a friend of mine who wants a pro rebuild rather than a replacement unit He is in the South East but that needn’t be an issue Many thanks

Thanks Paul, very helpful indeed

Hello, Can anyone please tell me where I can get a gasket set for this pump? I can see it’s an AC but I don’t know what model it is and it’s weeping petrol many thanks M

Hello, I have a 68 Herald 1360 convertible and it’s time to change my tyres. This has started me thinking about changing the wheels too (for a change) options as follows 1 Wires. Look lovely but are fiddly to keep clean and very expensive so I have discounted this 2 Minilites. I quite like the look of these. Much cheaper than the above, look nice, easy to fit a modern tyre 3 Stick with my old wheels and change the trim. Currently have the holes but could buy slots. What would look nice would be Vitesse Rostyle caps but I am not sure if these would fit? (Answers gratefully accepted) Finally I think my tyres have tubes but I have no idea why or if they are necessary? My very first car was a 66 soloon and had not tubes so I’m a bit confused. Again advice sought So I’m looking for advice on the best route and what to watch out for. Many thanks M

Thanks for the info, all very helpful I couldn’t understand why the replacement looked so different

Thanks Pete, yes they are both the same pump just one was a close up. Thanks for the advice I just hadn’t seen this type of pump for sale

Hi, I am confused. I bought a replacement fuel pump for my 1360 and it’s not the same as the one on the car (see photos). Is this a pump from a different Triumph?
-
Gentlemen, many thanks for all the advice, this is really helpful and I now have lots of different avenues to pursue. I will let you know

Thanks Ben (and Ron for that matter). This is a really comprehensive answer. I could clean the original and cut it down, but this was the part that was weeping in the first place so I would have to find a way to seal the copper pipe/brass nut interface properly I think I would still like to get a replacement part if possible

I really need some help as this is messing with my brain! I now have a shiney new pump (see pic) and as per the thread want to change the copper feed to rubber. To that end I have purchased some brass (and steel) connectors (see pic). The trouble is they go in half a turn then quickly tighten up. I have kept the old copper pipe connector (see last pic) which goes in pretty freely. I can only think the new thread must be different (metric compared to AF, BSF, or whatever imperial thread was on the original??) Can anyone let me know where I can get the right connector and indeed what to order? Many thanks in advance
