Hi iain. A wise man told me once it's best to repair or buy a used one as you know it's been on a car. A new bonnet has not been on a car and it may or may not be a sod to get right. Said man bought a new one and I was gonna do same. He told me he had a nightmare to get the gaps right. So on that I bought a used one and I found it straight forward. If you do buy new drill the holes for the gt6 badge before you paint it. I don't think the new bonnets come with the holes drilled.

its a lot of flow to get a 6 pot pulling fuel down a 1/4" pipe (6,3mm) i would upto 5/16" (7,93mm) to maintain some horses
pete
There you go Pete will be right I'd use the bigger dia pipe.
-
We are talking fuel pipe not brake Colin. The fuel tank on my mk3 defo has 5/16 coming out of it. I guess the bigger dia coming down to smaller will give faster delivery to the carbs. You will probably get away with 1/4. Think spitfires will all be 1/4
-
I'm pretty sure gt6 (mk3 anyway) fuel line is 5/16 dia. I bought a roll about 3 years ago. It narrows down to 1/4 at the engine bay.. Someone will know for sure on here

Just bought one . My modern has no spare (of course) I bought one, and this jack for £19.99 fits easily in a deep channel under the boot boards. A no brainer at the price and makes puncture repair easy.

I'm no expert but you can't keep t cutting all the time as your removing paint. Was the last coat (paint) you put on mainly thinners I read that the top coat should be a high mix of not much paint and mostly thinners but I can't remember the mix. I had a book which I lent out and it got lost. Someone on here will know.

I'd write what I think but it would take too long so I'll condense it right down - stunned. Those are superb.
You can't leave us like this - how was it done?

lots of comments on the discussion points to what I mean, nobody seems to think things through, climate bullies shout we have to change but come up with no ideas except going back to cave dwelling and using our legs. govt just seem to agree to anything as they don't want to be seen to be against climate change and lose votes.note boris trying to pass the buck to chair the climate conference in Glasgow and I don't blame him one minute for that. I live near Glasgow itll be a nightmare.

Eloquently put George. I agree wholeheartedly

Greta the Liar is a perfect example; she thinks she has all of the solutions, as she doesn't yet need to run a family, hold down a job, or maintain a house. Once she grows up a bit and realises the full adult picture of society and the world in general, she'll fade into the background very quickly...
Have you seen her dad? Say no more.
Anyway in 200 years the Albanians will invent the motor engine. We can make automobiles. Far better than the horses and carts you lot are using....... 🤣

I think you are right Ludwig I do wonder if oil companies are already sitting on something which wont be released until fossil fuel need drys up.

We all know that our trains and bus service will never fulfill the activists hope. We also know that electric cars won't be the answer either already their rabbiting on about tyre and brake dust pollution.
They will stop the country nobody can get to work if your not living on the doorstep. Holidays? Forget it let's walk to the next village. Kids can't do football. Rugby or swim as clubs are too far away. No trains for night shift workers. Car and caravan industry obliterated. Everybody freezing cold because the systems they describe wont heat your house to what we are used too. Or kill the asthmatic people from dust being blown about by the air pump system. In reality it will not work.

I just wonder what us classic lot will do when petrol is on the downside, where will we be able to get it to still run our cars?
I know it will take a while after 2035 to see off the older petrol/diesel cars so ill probably not be here by then . but I wonder.
what will the govt tax to get the cash back they lose on fuel?
how do we run trucks on electric?
what about towing caravans?
I sometimes think nobody thinks things through thoroughly.
the climate bullies shout a lot but have either none or crazy ideas.
discuss.......

I don't like to see damaged tools being thrown out, I found these two pair of old mole grips in a skip before the shutdown, one set the jaws were knackered the other absolutely rusted and broken spring, id put them in the garage and forgotten about them. I needed some extra welding clamps so I renewed the spring with similar I found lurking about the garage, de rusted all and modified the jaws from an old caravan hitch clamp. their back in service now.
