a good vet will have them up and kicking again colin!!!

  2. like the old p6 rovers clive they weren't structural either youd be surprised (maybe not) that garages used to fail the cars mot cause sills not welded, sometimes had to take workshop manual in to prove the sills were screwed on. one mot tester said to me once , "I know but I don't think its safe"

digressing though, its easy to screw a sill on to cover up the rust inside , im not saying this is the case here, but as you said needs taking off and a good look in there.

  3. scouring my folders of pics, best I can come up with are these two. might help you out. the dash picture is from Lindsay Dearings beautifully restored gt6 hope he doesn't mind me sharing it, you can see the position of the trip reset winder, and the other is the ignition key light doesn't give much reference as to where but must be near the ignition switch.Hope it helps.

how many people get any apology from any  accident  , most leave the insurance to sort out ,   last time you had a bump or serious crash  did anyone say 'sorry'

are  you not supposed to admit liability or they can void your policy , leave them to sort out the in's and out's of a collision .

Haway Pete. We're talking royalty here. Surely they have to be  expected to do the honest thing. Trouble is any admittance or charge by police isn't going to happen so they'll just say nowt so he can keep driving.

  5. both my moderns also have stop/start and I switch it off every time, I did find out that you can permanently disable it by bridging the "bonnet open" sensor as it needs this to be closed to work, but I have not done it as its just as easy to switch off.  the only other thing the car does is to switch off the radio every ten minutes when iam sitting in the car to save the battery for the stop start, this is a pain, but I live with it.

True, but remember the old joke about the astronaut who was asked how he felt just before lift-off, and replied: "How would you feel, sitting on top of the end results of 1000 low-bidders?"

There's (hopefully!!) a world of difference between £10 Chinese technology and £100 Chinese technology, and I'd like to think it's not just the brand name and the packaging.

Remember the film "Armageddon" with Bruce Willis, where the Russian cosmonaut tells him: "American components, Russian components, all made in Taiwan!"

It all comes down to what you really require, and all I want is a head unit that will fit the available aperture and play music at a good volume, in this case 60w per channel, plus it has the rear connectors for an amp if ever I needed one. I don't need it to connect to the steering wheel, turn the sound down every time the phone rings, or automatically interrupt songs to tell me the local traffic when I'm stuck nose to tail in it, so I'd like to think the price I paid gives me just the basics. It's a bit like my mobile phone; I've just binned my last one as it was too smart for its' own good and drove me demented by thinking it knew better than I what I really wanted, and have gone back to an older version that just makes calls.

I am with you colin, I have an old Datsun radio am/fm live , earth, two speakers, does me fine, all this amp stuff and mobile chargers ill never need.

Looks great but I'm not sure how well the pump would stand up to any petrochemicals that get in there. I know the original pump from my "proper" parts washer became terminally brittle after exposure to residual petrol and carb cleaner. Not as rapidly as the aftermarket screen washer pump I tried using to circulate plating chemicals, though.

Guess you could empty out cleaner after use and fill basin with water and flush through. I don't expect it to last forever and a new pump can't be too costly.

  8. Yeah failed with the sticky back plastic and wire coat hanger but wait!

Cover the outside of the basin in a sticky back plastic of your choosing. And get your dad to cut the coat hanger into a pair of tweezers to hold the carb parts while washing 🤯
