Richard I think the offset is taken from the centre of the wheel itself. When I spoke to John Brown's they stated that it's different for some wheels due to the cast and model.

Darren many thanks, my minds made up, 5Js it is.
Just need to sell my wires now

Darren sorry forgot to mention but the wheels on the website are 5.5 or 5J is this 5.5 inches across and if you've got 5's are they wide enough?
Thanks

Darren many thanks for all the great info, im going to go with the JBW ones. My car has been lowered slighty with spax shocks by the previous owner so im inclined to get the same size tyres to raise it by 8-9mm. In regards the nuts did you use closed end and if relevant locking nuts?
Great blog by the way and really useful, if i was closer i'd buy you a pint
In response to you Clive i think its a standard diff. i'll need to get under and have a look.
kind regards

Darren, John many thanks for your helpful posts, im going to measure the studs as the wires havent got any spacers between them so could be the short option. In regards to wheel size is 13 x 5J's the usual wheel. The offset of ET 20 and the same wheels would look great on my Mk1 Vitesse, does the offset bring the wheels further out towards the wheel arch hence ET20?
Im currently running 165/65/13 tyres would these fit on the 13 x 5J's?
Sorry for all the questions

Hello all,
I'm looking at selling my chrome MWS wire wheels and getting some minilites as a replacement. The wires look great but I don't want the hastle of having inner tubes etc and I really like the look of minilites.
The question is would the minilites bolt straight onto the vitesse hubs? The wires are 13" so I'd be replacing them with the same size minilites or equivalent.
Many thanks for all your help
Kind regards

Hello all,
Just greased up my steering rack and noticed it was rather tight to turn the wheels lock to lock. I've adjusted it so it's not so tight but require some spacers/shims to place between the lock nut and steering column so I get the correct endfloat. Does anyone know where I can source these?
Many thanks

Great, many thanks for all your replies. Ive also begun to replace the webbing on the convertable hood which goes across the roof bars. Does anyone know how to measure and fit the webbing ?
Once again many thanks

Many thanks for all your replies, i think I'm going to go down the screw and bolt route as you say Steve i don't want to be drilling them out.

Hello all,
I'm half way through sorting out my Convertable hood and frame but wondering how the rear of the hood fixes to the rear deck of the car?
When I took it off I had to unscrew each popper base and the screw just looked like a normal wood screw! Should they be pop riveted onto the car or are they supposed to be screwed?
Thanks in advance

Cheers Steve, it does look similiar to Johns links above as the numbers are stamped as per the lucas pictures in his link. The only numbers i can see are 768 and then 1188 B.
More looking tommorrow

Hi Pete,
Ive tried to up load a photo but having problems. The distributor says Lucas on the vacuum/diaphram pipe and i cant see any other numbers apart from the A R on the right hand side opposite the vac/diaphram.
Ill try and put a photo in later.

Hello all,
Many thanks for all your replies. i managed to get a stabiliser from James P and found that its a solid state one but in the same guise as the original bi-metal one. Anyway fitted it today and both guages are working .
I put the multimeter on the B terminal and got a good 12-13v and on the I terminal a good 12v. Kinda suspect that i should be getting 10v on the I terminal going to the guages!
Could this be due to it being a solid state device? The broken original only pushed out 6 - 8v?
Its fitted anyway so i suppose i should check the output with the engine running and all the earths back on which may drop the out put volts.

Hi sorry to jump on this thread but I'm trying to confirm what distributorI have in my Vitesse. It's a mk1 with a 2.5 MG engine and runs a Lumination electronic ignition. I just need to know what the distributor is so I can buy spares etc
Many thanks

Darren many thanks for all you great advice, did you have to cut down the m12 studs prior to fitting the minilites or were they long enough?
