  2. Another question after my research.  If the lift rails jack underneath the front and rear outriggers is this acceptable or will it damage or bend

  3. Hi Pete would be interested in them have you got any pictures as I am not sure what they are.  I am coming to the twiddle day in April.  Roger

i have taken a look at church autos web site and yes very interesting but from what I can see there range still depends on chassis rails down the outside unless I am missing something

    thanks Andrew

  4. Hello Guys and Girls.

Comments and suggestions please.  I have a Herald 13/60.  I keep looking and researching car lifts that I can use in my garage at home.  There are various makes available that lift the car to approx three feet off the ground which is ideal.  The question is they all lift the car under the chassis rails and on normal cars the chassis rails run down each side of the vehicle.  As we all know on a Herald the chassis rails run down the centre of the car.  So how can a car lift just use the chassis rails running down the centre safely.  Has anyone purchased a Car ramp and what make does anyone recommend.  My Budget is under £1500

Suggestions and makes of ramps/lifts welcome

    Regards

  5. Hi Dave

i had exactly the same symptoms as you are describing. Yes you are in the right area.  My off side rear wheel cylinder seized up in the expanded position and just like you the cylinders were only three years old.  What the thumping noise is is the cylinders slipping on the back plate as it should trying to stop the car.  It was a quick fix two new cylinders as problem solved.

  6. Hi Sorry  to voice my opinion.  I bought a new carpet set from the club shop for the following reasons.

    • Only six pieces
    • So easy to fit
    • Molded to the exact shape of the car especially the awkward  transmission tunnel area.
    • Top Quality
    • Now fitted and it looks superb
    • always support our club shop where possible
  7. Just a bit of advice please. Is it advisable  to change gear box oil and if so what intervals. Second is it just a case of draining the oil through the drain hole as per draining engine oil I presume there is nothing attached to the drain hole plug. Car is a herald 13/60

  8. Hi guys on a slightly related topic regarding gearboxes.  Do you need to change the oil at regular intervals, I know it is nothing like the regularity of engine oil but is it ness army or is it just good practice.  If so at what intervals.  My gearbox does have a drain plug in the bottom of the box car Herald 13/60

  10. Hello all

as promised that I would report back when I have sorted my locked up brake issue.  It was I thought the offside rear wheel cylinder sized up in the expanded position any way changed both wheel cylinders, brake shoes, drums and adjusters so both back brakes are completely overhauled.  When I took the old cylinder apart it was rusted solid internally.  Looking at the parts replaced by the PO these wheel cylinders are only four years old.  Anyway just thought you would all want to know as I have never wheel cylinders seized in the out position

    regards
