plate on bulkhead

Triumph Vitesse Mk 2 - have found on drivers side attached to bulkhead a small plate with the number 204055 GAT stamped on it - what does this refer to ? possibly when car was resprayed this plate was also resprayed insitu as we have a different body colour underneat

Its the body tub number as far as I know it was not recorded unlike engines numbers etc,

 

there is also a rear tub number often stamped on the overlap flange under the seats

Notably, that particular body number is from a Herald 1200 saloon.

Thanks for your replies and thought it was a body tub number but only approx 3500 vitesse convertibles were made so unable to tie that in BUT possibly a Herald tub will match in as a lot of other parts would also have been off a herald which caused no end of problems at the start but the old vitesse is slowly coming back to what it should be performance and looking like
