SprintAstic
HI all, have a sprint engine VA21980 - looking to date it so i know whether it'll be subject to MoT emissions regs Post-1975 or if its an earlier lump. Any help appreciated !!
rlubikey
You'll need a BMIHT (British Motor Industry Heritage Trust) certificate to satisfy mister MOT man - well, that's what I have anyway. Phone BMIHT and try to get through to an archivist. Explain the situation and they might tell you the date over the phone. That way, you know whether to shell out your money for the certificate. SprintAstic
Thanks Richard, i managed to find a bit of time to browse in more detail earlier today and the Dolomite forum had some info on VIN numbers (which don't necessarily match engine no's apparently) and my engine is probably late 70's .. http://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29700 may still contact BMHT to confirm as youre right some sort of proof would be needed to date the engine for MoT's. Cheers, Alan.
