97/56118
I have a Canley Classics CV conversion kit, but I am not sure I have set the end float correctly. Can anyone recommend a professional to assemble it ? is it best to use Timken bearings ? Canley Classics don't do it themselves ! Thanks.
Pete Lewis
The idea needs a bit of trial and error approach fit shims to get some end float, remove or fit thinner till end float is elliminated Add more to just feel the slight float 0.002" is far from easy to measure DIY. But keep playing so endfloat is very minimal but certainly has no pre load .....pre load will kill the bearings to much float is not desirable but wont kill the bearings Its an on and off pain but dont give up Put a wheel on the hub makes float feel more magnified Pete
Adrian
Agree with Pete, that’s what I did. Too much float resulted in a wobbly wheel, not enough a slight scraping on rotation. Trial and error, provided you don’t drive it around I think you can add and take away to your hearts content without any damage. Adrian
