cliff.b Posted June 29, 2021 Author Report Share Posted June 29, 2021 After making the front carb a whole turn richer it would run without choke, but pretty rough. Took her out for a few miles and looked at the plugs 1 & 4 which were both white. Richened both carbs another 2 flats, drove again & better, but still weak. Another 2 flats & plug colour looks good & car running well. I worked out that at room temp, the wax capsule in the rear carb was about 1mm thinner than the 2 pennies & the one from the front carb about 2.5mm. I reckon the amount I had to turn the mixture nuts to get back to normal is probably consistent with this difference. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cliff.b Posted August 19, 2021 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2021 Just a (hopefully🤞) final update to this thread. Despite all the previous actions taken I was still getting some popping on the overun, although it was greatly improved. However, as stated on another thread, I found my vacuum advance was seized and after replacing it the popping has now stopped altogether. Makes sense I suppose 🤔.
