Boot panel spit 1500

Hi All,

Am I being stupid? The boot panel appears too tall? Where does the bottom screw into?

I don’t know about the height, but the bottom of the panel attaches to four right angled brackets with spire nuts which are welded to the boot floor. They should line up with the holes in the lower edge of your trim panel. Have you replaced the boot floor perhaps? They don’t come on new panels as far as I know.

Mine didn't fit either but I put that down to my having probably fitted the new boot floor a fraction too high. As Josef says, there are supposed to be small brackets attached to the floor but they very often go missing during a restoration.

Ah, thanks. There are no fixings on my car.

Oddly enough, the boot floor was about the only non rusty panel, so it must have been changed. 
Does the panel sit at an angle then? Bottom sitting advanced of the top?

The trim panel is supposed to hug the fuel tank, which may as well be vertical. It doesn't sit right at the front of the floor, though, as that would need a bend in it. I have a sediment bowl and electric fuel pump fitted to the saddle, and the trim panel just clears them.

(Mine is a Mk3, hence the fuel outlet is in the bottom of the tank)

As you can see, there are no fixings on mine, either. I ended up trimming the panel to fit snugly, so that I could rest the bottom on the floor and put the three screws in the top.

I’ll trim down and bond some fixings to the floor. Don’t want to weld now it’s painted.

Bit late  here ..but there are 4 brackets  for spire clips 

I welded them back to new floor when replaced it.

The  hardboard  does fit but have to push it in and up first.

Its 42 cm tall.
