Well I liberated my Herald from Mansfield and took it safely back to its birth place in Coventry back in 2012.

Just tried from main site and works, but not from downloads on forum
Thanks Pete for that suggestion

No not powered but works a treat.
My head unit has setting for powered or non powered.

I bought this one https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077GMM5G9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_QZD9M39DG4NEFEXAEE5B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Much better than using those windscreen aerials.
Been in van since January and very good reception.

People need to remember MOT exempt doesn't mean road worthy exempt.
I've been looking for a daily driver and there are a lot of classics for sale, even from dealers with no MOT as they are exempt!
I have passed on those.
I would always put a classic through an MOT, the advantage to me is I can be late getting it, but not too late.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Well the fronts have arrived, Monroe made in Poland. Quality looks good, hopefully they will last. Just waiting for the rears to arrive now.
Thanks for all the input 👍

Being retired is worse than working you don't get holidays, sick leave, weekends off, bank holidays . . .
It is 7 days a week 52 weeks a year 😒
Can't wait 😁

I know, but what the hell I'm retiring next year so will keep me busy. Although feel retired now with furlough, brilliant 🤭

I have a recommendation for a company in Preston but anything nearer to you, sorry, no idea.
Well if I don't find anything, it could be a road trip 😃

Oh Lord I dream of a tub that good...
To be honest its not that bad, but there are some bodges that need replacing and some welding on the chassis.
I thought if I've gone this far I might as well do the lot. It needs to be repainted from green to original slate grey, so one of the things I need to find is a local place to strip the body and chassis back to metal so I can see exactly what I've got.

Thanks all, car set of Monroe shocks ordered and a very nice saving on the adjustable ones 🤑
-
Should have bought a Commer or Bedford 🙃
Good job tho
-
Herald shocks, is there anything wrong with the standard ones being sold?
Asking as all searches bring up the usual adjustable KONI, GAZ and SPAX, no one seems to fit standard anymore or at least doesn't mention it.
I don't need adjustable, just a decent replacement for front and rear, unless there are advantages to fitting the adjustable versions.
When the car is back on the road(hopefully next year) it will probably do no more than 3k miles a year.
Thanks in advance

some years ago i repaired a friends Skoda fabia which the drop glass had devoured a parking ticket and scambled the glass pull cords and broken one
drill off the inner case rivets ,remove the whole assy, re wired with push bike brake inner cables
added rive nuts to the carcass and bolted it all back , saved about £300 for a replacement load of VW rubbish
the trouble is percived quality has ££s added to simple tasks
