  1. Just read this old thread with great interest. I have a Mk2 2500S ex NZ. The wipers used to be ok, but now they don't park and they only wipe 100 deg. I am going to have a go at adding the right thickness of washer under the circlip to fix the parking: I assume it goes under the very top circle holding the rotor arm and so pushing the whole shaft down towards the parking switch? For the wipe my crank wheel is 100 deg which explains the wipe pattern, but I could have sworn it went further years ago. Are larger deg crank wheels available for my S? I will also pull out the rack to re-grease and rotate the wheel box splines. I will consider the ebay blades, but I have a weird pantograph style arm (I should send pics) which makes it difficult to replace the blade. I just doctor the new rubber bits and refit rather than replace all the nice new chrome bits. So, I assumed the old (original 1978) arms and springs may be tired which will not help the wiping. However, a new SVC arm seemed worse! So, I've reverted for now to the original arms. Any additional advice is most welcome.
  2. Wish I had read this thread earlier today... I have just replaced the coolant mix in my Triumph 2500S with Water:Silicates-free OAT (33%). It would have had blue coolant in before the change. I emptied the system, refilled with clean water and proprietory cooling system flush, ran for 10 mins, emptied, flushed with another 10 litres of water (did not run the engine this time, but it looked pretty clean water emerging) and then filled with the water:OAT. Should I swallow my pride and empty it out, flush again (many times!) and then replace with water:blue coolant?
  3. Thanks for the replies. The old rubber was put back in. When doing the gutter sealant trick, sorry to be obtuse, but am I squirting the sealant between the glass and the rubber? Or between the rubber etc and the car body? Should I by worried about the white spirit on the paintwork? Also, not that I intend to do it anytime soon if the leak is stopped, will using gutter sealant make it any harder removing the windscreen in the future? Last question: what is the heater plenum rain drain and where located?
  4. I have a leak in my 2500S so I have looked at this and the Chasing Leaks in the A post threads. My car had a very slight leak on the passenger's side onto the parcel shelf. Then I had it repainted with the windscreen removed. The leak got worse including on the drivers side. I pointed this out and the body shop got the string screen specialist back in again. They say they removed the screen, cleaned off the old sealant and re-fitted with new sealant. The leak was worse dripping heavily now onto the drivers legs. That says to me that it must be a screen related leak. Before I go back to the body shop a second time, can any tips be given on how to avoid a repeat? Or even is there any other source of a leak that might have been exacerbated by the screen removal, but is actually somewhere else? I just now the body shop are going to say they have done all they can and the leak is coming from somewhere else.
  5. The flasher unit I know of is behind the card trim at the back of the parcel shelf below the glove compartment next to the fuses. I replaced that early on, but it changed nothing. So is that the same as you describe as "back of the glovebox"? If not do I need to remove the inner of the glovebox to get behind it to a second flasher unit? By the way the indicator lights just come on and stay on as well when the hazard switch is pulled out.
  6. Thanks for all advice on this. Still have "flasher staying on and not flashing" problems. Fuse has blown again too after a few months of no blowing. Can someone be so kind as to direct me to the location of the second flasher unit for my 2500S? Thanks.
  7. Thanks for your advice. Apologies for not acknowledging earlier. I have checked all indicator bulbs and earths, cleaned up and they all seem fine to me. Indicators still staying on after about 10 secs. Could not find the other flasher unit, only the one I have previously replaced by the fuses behind the card backing for the shelf under the glove compartment. Sorry to be thick, but can you point me to the other unit? Also, do I take it that my 2500S does not have a night dimmer switch in the boot rear wheel arch (as I could not find that either!). Thanks.
  8. Useful info in this thread as I have both indicator and wiper problems with my 2500S. Indicators flash when first used for about 5 secs then stay on until cancelled. From then on in that journey they just stay on when indicating, but do not flash. For a while the fuse would blow stopping all that circuit (wipers, indicators, fuel, temp gauges etc). I replaced the hazard switch and wiper parking switch which seemed to cure the blowing fuse... until yesterday. I know I need to check all indicator and brake light earths, and should lubricate the wiper wheel boxes (tip from Mr Witor) and (from this thread) the whole wiper rails mechanism etc. Just for my info does the 2500S also have two flasher units? I can only see one, which has been replaced, but did not fix the non-flashing problem. Bit of a problem as my wife refuses to drive it without indicators or wipers!
