    E-Bay Changes

I've just received an E-Mail stating that Private Sales are now free of charges off E-Bay🙂 I've not read all the small print as yet and I don't really sell a lot of stuff via E-Bay, more buying the odd item, but this sounds like great news. Gary
  2. Trigolf That's marvellous😊 I will have to find some Heat Resistant Black spray paint and re-paint it. Every day is a learning day. Thanks Gary
  3. I've no idea the make of the Twin silencers on my car, a couple of photo's, any ideas? I need to source a standard Stainless exhaust pipe, gasket and mounting kit before I can fit the new system Gary
  4. Johny That's the plan, a rub down to bare metal then spray with High Temp Silver (It will probably come off though😔) can you recommend a decent HT Spray paint? I've recently had my Wheels blasted and Powder coated but suspect it's not worth getting the Silencer done, as it that will probably come off too due to the heat? I may be getting mixed up with the packing, what I do know is the Silencer is really heavy! I also need to get a new Manifold Gasket, a main pipe linking the silencer to the Manifold and a mounting/hanging kit. I can remember my first Vitesse which was fitted with a standard system and Silencer, it had a nice Raspy note to it and wasn't too loud I can't wait to get it fitted🙂 I'll advertise the twin system when it's removed, I know they are still very popular. Gary
  5. Hi All I've currently got a set of the twin (Wheel Barrow) type Exhausts fitted to my Mk2 Vitesse. However, they are too loud for me and also a bit too Boy Racer (In my Opinion), I just don't like them and never have. So, I propose to fit a standard system and have recently acquired this N.O.S. Silencer off a good friend and fellow Vitesse owner. A couple of Questions 1. I'm presuming the silencer is packed with some sort of Wadding (Fiberglass?) does anyone know if this is likely to have degraded? 2. I always thought they were painted Silver as standard (This one is black and definitely original, as I can see the "Stanpart" Logo on it and a a couple of numbers 1 & 70 which I assume are the Month and Year of Manufacture Jan 1970) Anyone got a N.O.S. original Mk2 Silencer stashed away? Regards Gary
  6. Des What clips are you after? I have loads of old ones saved, new ones may be available from TD Fitchett's if you can quote them the part numbers? Gary
  7. I would advise using the original fixings, new where available or the old ones if not. If you are worried about the paint and future corrosion why not use a small paint brush and a dab of your chosen rust proofer to protect the bodywork were the clip/trim fixes? I would recommend Dinitrol 3125 fluid, I used this on the side moulding rivets and all the other trim clips when re-fitting the stainless trims on my Vitesse and it still looks good today 20 years on. Dynax S50 Rust proofer is also good. Mastic or silicone type sealants do work too but can get messy. Gary
  8. Des My last Vitesse was built May 1970, I have known the car since 1981 and it was fitted back then with the flatter lens which I'm 99% sure where original (See photo with one of the previous owners taken in 1981). I would hazard a guess yours should have the flatter lens too with it being a later build. Keeps us posted with the rebuild Cheers Gary
  9. That's been advertised before and didn't sell, a tad optimistic I reckon?🤔
  10. Colin Looks like a good turn out, the Wedgwood Mk2 Vitesse Convertible was a car I enquired about back in March, but unfortunately it was sold before I had chance to view it in Scotland, it's looking good. Gary
  11. Hi Colin The only difference I know of, is the shape around the headlamp is different due to the 7" Headlamps on the 13/60 and the twin 5.75" on the Vitesse. Obviously the front panels are different, but I'm not 100% sure if some of the other wheel arch support bracketry might be slightly different too. I'm sure when Practical Classics restored their Vitesse in the late 80's early 90's, Vitesse Wings weren't available and they used 13/60 Wings and fabricated sections to suit the Vitesse front panel, but I may be getting mixed up with another article on Herald/Vitesse restoration. Regards Gary
  12. They looked in very good condition. That particular E-Bay sellers listed a lot of rare Vitesse parts over the past 6 months. Newark Auto-jumble this weekend, there may be some for sale there, I live in hope. Regards Gary
  13. I was thinking of having a bid on these as spares, too much for me, or is this the going rate these days?
  14. Richard I don't know the RAL Colour I'm afraid, he told me it was the same standard colour as MGB Ro-styles are painted in, a Powder Coat Finish. I need to decide on Tyres, standard 155/80 I reckon, but what make? Gary
  15. All hood frames up to the introduction of the Mk2 Vitesse were finished in a light grey colour I believe, thereafter a Satin Black colour was used on the Vitesse and 13/60 Convertibles. Regards
