  1. Richard I don't know the RAL Colour I'm afraid, he told me it was the same standard colour as MGB Ro-styles are painted in, a Powder Coat Finish. I need to decide on Tyres, standard 155/80 I reckon, but what make? Gary
  2. All hood frames up to the introduction of the Mk2 Vitesse were finished in a light grey colour I believe, thereafter a Satin Black colour was used on the Vitesse and 13/60 Convertibles. Regards
  3. A bit more progress with the Wheel change, picked up my refurbished 4.5J Rims and couldn't resist trying a Ro-style trim on one😊 I need to decide on some tyres, I had Uniroyal Rain Expert tyres on my last Vitesse, so that may be the way to go. Gary

There is some discussion about the car on the TSSC Facebook pages, it was previously owned and restored by a Dennis Benson apparently at considerable cost. That is a name I do recognise from the past and it would seem he's into Motorbikes now not cars from the Facebook posts, I'm not sure if he accesses this site though. Gary

  6. That's a local car to me, owned by a guy called Chris who attends most of the local Classic car shows. Gary
  7. Pete Ok, I was given a Tub full of Triumph Nuts/Bolts by a mate who used to own various Triumphs, so there may well be some second hand ones in there, I think I'll bite the bullet and get some new ones though. Gary
  8. Pete Any 7/16" UNF Wheel Nuts among the ones for sale? Gary
  9. That's a late Triumph 2000/2500S Inlet Manifold with Inch & three Quarter HS6 Carbs. supposedly more efficient than the standard Vitesse Manifold. Gary
  10. It should be marked somewhere with the Diameter too. If not measure across where the tyre bead fits Most of the Triumph John Brown wheels are 5.5J, some however maybe 5J or 6J Though. 155/80 size tyres are not ideal on 5.5J Gary
  11. Hi Martyn If the Alloys are 5.5J width 175/70 are a popular size, if 5J width 165/70 are another option. I Wouldn't go any wider or they may catch on the wheelarch edges.
  12. I always thought it was because the rear deck isn't flat and they need to hinge at a slight angle? Or maybe it's so the visible hinge Pin goes to the inside of the car. One of life's mystery's😊 Gary
  13. Colin I must find the details and contact them. Cheers
  14. Peter I managed to pick them up quite local too, a lot cheaper than the ones listed on E-Bay although one as a very slight dent, but they are A1+ which will do me. It goes to show that putting a wanted advert on the Facebook groups does work. I've arrange to collect the Vitesse 4.5J Rims later this afternoon, they will need blasting an painting though so I can't see me fitting them anytime soon. Gary
  15. Pete Do the uprated studs go through the standard 4.5J Vitesse rims ok? Picked up these beauties last night, I will need to make up some top-hat brackets to stop them coming off, put that shouldn't take too long. Gary
  16. Pete, you are correct and I'm aware of the different fitting rim depths. Apparently the original Mk2 Vitesse & Mk2 GT6 rims have a 32mm deep fitting rim, other depths are 15mm (Early PI), 20mm (Stag) and 25mm (Late PI) I fitted the late PI Ones (25mm ring) to my old Vitesse and they are a snug fit up to the rim/tyre, but I fitted (On the advice of AN Other) a Top hat shaped bracket that fitted under 2 of the wheel nuts and was tapped 2ba in the middle so I could hold the PI Trims secure, it also blanks the hole. I've been told these are late PI with 25mm fitting rim depth, I've arranged to view them after work today, so will see what condition they are in and how much the vender wants for them. The ones listed on E-Bay currently either won't fit or are too expensive in my opinion. It will be a case of getting the 4.5J Rims collected, blasted and painted, then some new tyres I will also have to get some longer wheel studs and new Wheel nuts too. The Studs have been shortened on my car for the Wire Wheels and the Wheel nuts are also special shorter bevelled types. Nothing is simple?! Gary
  17. Looks like they've either been sold or removed, I cannot find them? I may be sorted though, there is someone in the Triumph 2000/2.5PI Register local to me who's got a decent set of 4 for sale, I just need to arrange a viewing one day after work. Gary
  18. No, if I remember correctly Stag & 2500S Alloys use Aluminium wheel nuts too. Gary
  19. Colin Yes, I know times are hard for a lot of people? I'm not desperate to sell them, so may wait till next spring to advertise them. I've managed to source some Vitesse 4.5J Steel rims off a guy 4 miles from home, which was fortunate. However, I still have to try and source a decent A1+ Set of Ro-style trims or if possible some N.O.S. ones for a not unreasonable price. There are some PI ones on E-Bay, but too expensive for me I'm afraid. Cheers Gary
  20. They come up for sale on E-Bay quite often, prices seem to vary between £50 up to £250 depending on condition The front corners of the Header rail seem to be weak point and do rot out. Here's one listed now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176382644750?_nkw=TRIUMPH+hOOD+frame&itmmeta=01J5D2GPG34A9B6E34QE65KWH0&hash=item291139920e:g:mz4AAOSwoaJmR3kd&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKkVzNP2RVUeRJKJ3LZXGw2rDwn8K1BXe1JHR2M3ZEDZu8efu%2FReuSyzbTCYV8G4uPpnksiFBvi%2FFcm95%2FXdrnQqVEjPWAiiqxAAD2cmphdlXWn1VUbBkAQm89kEy58xsJBIGYfjmNEXkcsTlQWo8VS1EFYgDduGsZo%2B7AVf7rDeTeWCwv6%2Bu5arhXaoN4zCx0d%2FAR%2BS%2FNuh3R679%2B7QYW3FJMm1ZuaMFmGAN0KK%2FqFMJ3zKVyYN3%2FhN3nRPXTOf%2Fcb0lpqYYmf90z7hjPBCVyMwzJp9our7BMDCM96hWGAsXw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5LowqKrZA Martyn, is yours beyond repair or do you need one for a restoration project. Gary
  21. There are some listed at the moment on E-Bay with Spinners, Hubs, Etc but without Tyres for £950, I will have to see if they sell? Never easy to price up something second hand, times are hard for a lot of people at the moment and Chrome Wire Wheels are a bit of a luxury I'm not ready to sell as yet, I'm sorted with the 4.5J Steel rims but I need to source some decent Ro-style trims too. Gary
  22. No, I've made my mind up that the Wires are going. Although they do look good, they are a pain to keep clean, heavy, flexy and I fear the splines are not up to the job on a Vitesse. I was considering some Period Alloys (Cosmic or Revolution 4 spoke) but I've set my mind on putting original rims and Ro-styles back on the car, I love the look of the Vitesse with the Ro-styles. I've just got to accept the fact things are a lot more expensive these days. I should be able to sell the Wires on, as they have only done around 8,000 mile since the car was rebuilt and they've recently had new Tyres and Tubes fitted. Looking at the Rimmers Website, a set of Wheels with all the Hubs, Spinners, Etc are near on £1,800 now and that's without tyres and tubes. What are my Chrome Wires and tyres worth? Gary
  23. I'd better start saving up! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126599336215?itmmeta=01J566W8V1N48Z0YJJHDQQ01S2&hash=item1d79e89117:g:-ZgAAOSwQJVmogTX&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKnaMxLVxWLQEilxII0cUOjyS30oMDufyFtZ1O5xLXYW1bMynqzCHRB8B1sqDvLGCY032%2BX5jmxaBRci71%2F5ZDyCdvDrhrZnsXrhllD11xj8X%2FwhH1hIPkT1Y7gHhs%2F2%2FA3%2FH6ZfNcZuXcEYgcLaLy6y%2BJojE9%2FNXEE0%2FUsdX28EXes%2BjJmlzXm8GLBqpWttp39ASp0j4P7NjaAHNXhjtaVj%2Fysu2GmiV4gDN9h94DhRH5yDw87r1JE0O7HOntBKhyt%2FPiKB%2Bof%2BizUMMtleYePvIwJDDvHn%2B5GYeME1nEXWZw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8yN8capZA Gary
  24. Pete Yes, I fitted 5.5J Dunlop D1 Alloys to my old Vitesse, it looked the business. I do like the look of the original Ro-style trims too though, just fighting with my conscious to see if I like them that much to spend ££££ and fit them? I suppose I should be able to re-coup most of the money (If not more) by selling on the Chrome wires, Tyres, Hubs, Spinners etc. Looking at the Rimmers Website it's near on £2K now for a set of Chrome wires with all the fittings and that excludes the tyres. As I say, decisions, decisions.🫣 Gary
  25. Doug I'm just in the process of pricing up what's involved with changing the wheels, I've got someone local who's got a set of 4 Vitesse 4.5J Rims for sale that need refurbishing? I've made an offer, the trouble is it will costs £10 a wheel to have the old tyres removed and disposed of, I've had another quote of £40 per wheel to blast and stove enamel paint them, then there's the cost of new tyres £50 each at least no doubt. So I'm up to £400 already without buying the rims! Then, I've got to try and find some A1+ or N.O.S. Ro-style wheel trims, how long will that take and cost?! A period set of Alloys maybe a cheaper and quicker route, JB Wheels do period ones for between £400 to £500 with tyres Decisions, decisions? Gary
