Not directly related to your problem but something I discovered when replacing mine, Ivor Davis who make a lot of parts in the UK and I had some correspondence regarding his sender, the body and float is offset on his replacement, the original is centred. You cannot fit the replacement because you can't line up the hole's as the body hits the side of the tank aperture. I think you may have a similar problem with yours not being centered.

Anybody know how much oil a Mk1 2.0 L Vitesse takes?
4.7 Lt -
I tried it with some glass grinding paste (from eBay maybe that's why it didn't work) but didn't make much of a difference to the wiper scratch, ended up buying another screen. There are companies that will polish glass...

Ah Peugeot dealers, their catch phrase 'yeah mate they all do that" I got that no matter what went wrong with my 405 sti or the later 605 sport (Basically Pug had a whole lot of manual gearbox 605s that executives didn't want because of the very fact they had a manual gearbox, so they put a body kit and boot spoiler on them, gave them a 'sport' button that did bugger all and flogged them as sports models) I knew my local dealer on first name terms!!!
I only had Peugeot's and Fiats as company cars as we had lots of OE business with them...

I see you had an Austin Maxi, mine was Mk 1 with the cable system from gear-lever to gearbox. I don't think I ever had five gears and reverse at the same time, the garage would adjust these so I could get the missing one but that would mean losing one of the others. I think they changed to a lever system for the Mk 2. In my twenties I made full use of the fold down into a bed configuration of the seats!!!
You also had a IMP, on mine the engine would seize up when hot, you would just pull over to the side of the road let it cool down and away it would go again, Aluminium engine was the problem with rad in the front. Easiest car ever to get the engine out just remove the rear panel and push the car forward!!

I was trying to work out my car history, I got to 43 cars owned by me over the years plus three bikes. Any advance on 43?
I am not sure if the link will work for the list, if not I will try again...

Strangely enough mine was £19 when I bought it but I think it must have been miss priced as it went up soon after I bought it. So a bargain for me!!!
