  1. Some say you can put some stiff wire through the petrol cap and move the arm (normally up as its stuck on empty) so I see no reason why you couldn't move it up and down if its stuck. Otherwise its easy to take out (make sure you haven't a full tank) I cut a cork gasket to refit...

  2. So reading the other thread about the merits of laying up for winter or using it I thought I might 'use it' and try a twenty mile round trip to Toolstation in Cirencester. Battery was flat and wouldn't start so was about to push it back into the garage when white van man turned up with a nice new shiny Bosch battery, we had the usual 'My Dad/Gramps had a Herald' and that he didn't realise they had six cylinders (do you correct them?) he was really interested and for a moment I thought he was going to come with me.

Anyway I threw the Bosch on and he bounced into life, on arrival at Toolstation JONI proved quite a hit with the young guys behind the counter, 'awe mate that's really SICK' one said, I take it 'sick' means good in modern parlance? also they were amazed that he was 55 years old and still going strong, as the lad had to recently scrap his 12 year old Corsa.

But it made me realise driving them makes people smile particularly old boys of my age and now even the youth of today, they won't make people smile in the dark days of winter while hidden away in garages, so get em out and drive em...

The biggest smile of the day though was me driving home at sixty mph...

Local car valet company who also do powder coating in Cotswold water Park. £70 a couple of years ago looks almost a burnished blue/grey, worn well although I did mark one when the pop rivet gun did the normal kick back!! Use a cloth now!!

  4. B2s normally come in at night they don't like the anoraks at the end of the runway, according to local news we can expect two B2s any day now as the spotters saw B2 spare engines being unloaded last week.
