    Oil filter

I need to order an oil filter for the vitesse, its got a spin on conversion with a QFL0099 oil filter fitted, when I had a GT6 the filters for the spin off conversions was GFE166 , GFE173 or GFE 180, Coopers 19 or a Delphi 19. I had seen an offer with rimmers - are these any use or am I better buying a QFL0099 or one of the other filters?. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-RR1243K
  2. Colin, i wish i had your knack of searching ebay, ive spent hours looking
  3. I thought I’d seen a post, couldn’t find it with a search, guessing it will reappear at some point
  4. Looking for a locking petrol cap (chrome or stainless) for a vitesse mk 1
  5. I’d seen that one so I’m guessing the one that’s in the car is no longer available, I’ll see if I can find the sizes of that one. I’d seen the one for a mini as well but that looks too small. I’m sure I’d seen on a facebook site that someone was remanufacturing the light cover but I can’t find the post now (typical)
  6. The interior roof light is missing it’s plastic cover (well I have the original it’s broken, brown and misshapen) and would like to replace with a covered light rather than a bare bulb. Any ideas where I can get a new cover or has anyone fitted an alternative that’s a direct replacement?
  7. Thanks all. Heater control fixed, may need adjusting again once it’s been used. Hoping to use the car tomorrow to check that it’s sorted - I’m sure there’s going to be lots of niggles / adjustments to make. Could do with a good clean really do that’s tomorrow’s task.
  8. Still clearing a few of the faults I’ve found, now found an unconnected switch, it’s the direction control for the heater, I can’t find and detail on where the cable fixes to, I’m guessing it’s somewhere under the dash. This is a photo of the wheel
  9. Originality as fortunately I kept my gt6 service books and they cover the vitesse.
  10. Pete, thanks, ok I’ve progressed, now I have all 4 units working, it’s a dodgy earth, need to remove and sort a crappy scotchlock connector.
  11. just doing a post purchase shake down of the car and theres an issue with the headlights - when i pull the switch out on the dash the side lights come on, then as I use the column switch the headlight is the inner light which Im guessing is main beam and the outers remain off. The outs glow when main beam selected but an orange glimmer rather than a bright light. when i use the flash the inner lights flash. confused as to where to start - any pointers gratefully received
  12. I got the car today, heres a picture. A few questions:- are the wheel trims correct? what colour should the wheels be? is there a good book for reference?
  13. would this kit work for a vitesse, or would a different kit be better? or is this a better kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ceramic-H4-Headlight-Relay-Wiring-Harness-Headlamp-Light-Bulb-Socket-Plug-NEW/262691639179?hash=item3d29a44f8b:g:xm0AAOSwnbZYEEVW:rk:23:pf:0
  14. I’ve now got the chassis number it ends in a DL. So it’s confirmed as a saloon and it looks like a data input error on the insurance database is the reason it’s listed as convertible.
  15. John daft question, does a shultz gun require a high cfm? Ian
  16. If I go the compressor route, Im thinking of either the stanley (screwfix) or the small SGS.
  17. Tony, thanks, theres an opie oils near where I live so I will nip in and see what they stock.
  18. Thanks John and Clive, I used waxoil in the past but not dintrol. Clive can you recommend a supplier / stockist or is it better to buy direct.
  19. I have been thinking about buying a small compressor for waxoil, shultz and tyres etc, can anyone suggest a small compact compressor or would I be better buying a foot pump / tyre compressor and using aerosol spray cans - I wount be using air tools or spraying.
  20. It was one of the club recommended insurers, I’m hoping it is the database that’s wrong, it seems odd that someone would change a convertible into a saloon, I can understand the other way round. I’d not given it a thought until the insurer said convertible, so I’ll carry out the checks
  21. I can’t say it wasn’t but it’d have to have been very early on, the car was restored in the 90s and has been a saloon the whole time the current seller has owned it. I’ll get the chassis number checked and the registration document checked.
  22. Well I’m confused, hope someone can give me a steer, I have been getting insurance quotes so I can pick the car up, with one of the brokers I was told it was registered as a convertible, the car is a saloon so very puzzled. Is there an easy way to resolve?
  23. Thanks all, there’s a petrol station near where the car is and then there’s a number along the a30 so should work ok.
  24. Minilites are for the future, we need to collect the car and use it for this year, there’s a couple of things I want to sort, mainly down to personal preferences. Any ideas what sort of mpg I will get out of a vitesse, I need to plan my route home and want to avoid motorway fill ups if possible. I’m guessing late 20s to early 30s. I will take a can of fuel just in case.
