Hello, I've fitted a new front crossmember and Im wondering about the captive nuts. Pictured is the grill bracket, under the 2 nuts for this on the front is another on the old one but I dont know what its for, and, is there others that should be welded in and what for please.
I didnt take the front to bits so working a bit blind so if anyones got a picture with bonnet up etc Id really appreciate it thanks.
Car is non rotoflex mk3 GT6

Has it always been unstable at high speed, ie 14 years ago was it ok with new tyres? Is it only since the tyres have got older? If you change tyres first, check it for high speed again then go from there Id say, if its still same you know theres something else amiss. How are your bushes all round, is the steering rack tight etc etc good luck

Always test your reactive helmet by looking at lighting before welding. Also, each time before starting to weld, snip your end of mig wire for a fresh strike every time, practice and practice and practice on some spare steel ๐

The seems of boot floor and wheel arches, Ive scrapedย ย the sealant out and after painting I intend to spray ACF50 into them, it soaks into everywhere around the spot welds too ๐๐ป

That`s an issue with me. If I book and save some money, I will almost guarantee something will occur to prevent me going!. (and lose me the nonrefundable cash) I`ve had to stop booking stuff, unless it is an absolute certainty we will make it!. The number of camp ground bookings we had had to cancel because of medical issues alone in the last few years.
Pete.
Yeah, I did say to my mate we'll book online but he seemed a bit uncertain about it, all was revealed though as he announced he got married last Wednesday and didnt want any fuss, I kept taking the piss saying he was coming on honeymoon with me to the NEC ๐คฃ๐คฃ
The other funny thing, there was a Star Wars thing on too, some of the lady aliens that we saw were amazing ๐ฅฐ๐

I went with a mate in my IQ, great to gallon so he paid the parking ๐คฃ 33 quid each on the door, great day though

Colin,ย my Mrs loves the old motors, always gives me a lift if I need help lol, youll have to buy her more flowers lol ๐
Yes, its staying blue, although the original colour is brown, then it was done red, then a full inside out job blue (apart from the steel under the dash thats still brown, awful colour) lol

Cheers Mathew, it doesn't seem to have taken that long really, waiting for parts this last month has seemed longer but thats a lesson learned now, things that are out of my hands, Ill really allow lots more time to order stuff before Im ready for the work. ๐๐๐ป

Yup its a big un lol,
Ive left the vertical link bushed joint loose till the body is back on to sit the suspension in the correct position before torquing up tight.
The other bushes are sleeved and greased up so should move as they normally would ๐๐๐ป
