  1. Hi Toby,

it can, unfortunately, be quite a challenge to get reasonable insurance at your age, the one thing I would say is to take 45 mins to ring and speak to the TSSC insurance panel members (don’t rely on web-quotes) ..... you may find out some nuggets of info in a conversation.

earlier advice to rack up some NCB on a cheap/cheerful regular car is sensible - c1/107 is a good choice from a practical perspective, but I understand it may not sound very exciting!

one point to note, I don’t think you ‘must’ have another car to have a classic insurance policy..... certainly I have just had a classic as only car in the past without an issue - limited mileage isn’t mandatory either (but does reduce the cost)

good luck with with your search.......  andy

Must admit when I recently refitted my manifold I torqued up the nuts I could get to then applied a spanner to the same and 'estimated' the force needed to very slightly move the nut. Then with a fully calibrated hand and bicep did the same to the inaccessible ones. Very DIY but we all know we can spend a fortune on tools that we may only use once.

This is exactly what I do :)

  3. :)   Just revisited what I wrote 2 years ago, and to be honest I’d still stick by it - use the various media streams and communication methods that suit your own needs.

The one thing which has changed is that Facebook does now support searches within a group (it didn’t 2 years ago) so you do now stand a chance of finding snippets of info from past conversations. At least that particular gripe has been addressed.

  4. Hey Dave,  at that price it has to be worth a go!

Funny that you used to live so close... i’v lived in the area boy and man, to be honest it hasn’t changed much At all over the years, just fewer Triumphs on the roads :)

  5. Bluetooth UE Megaboom hooked up to your phone; streaming of any stored music, internet radio plus hands-free phone. Speaker is removable so you can take it with you when parked up or lock in the boot.

not much of a downside if you also keep your old period-look radio in the existing mount.

On the off chance that someone may have one available for a fair (read low!) price... good friend of mine is doing a shoestring resto on a 1500 spit and has found a cam which has seen better days in the lobe department!

If you have one please PM me your details and I’ll pass them to him ....

many thanks in advance for any help :)

  7. I’m not a fan of wooden wheels, I love a leather motolita though..... your car, so your choice, you may want to ‘feel’ a few first. I bought my first one at Stoneleigh many years ago where the stall had a huge variety to try out.
