  6. Upload pictures for Dummies

    Hello,

     

    There has been a debate about max allowed picture size, and how to upload pictures. I know that some of you here on this forum obviously have figured out how everything works (thanks John for those great pictures of your aluminum bodied Gt4!). But I guess there are still a few members out there that (just like me) haven’t managed to successfully upload pictures. But one should never give up! So I have started this new thread for the single purpose of practicing how to upload pictures from my gallery. Anyone else who still struggles with this: Feel free to upload whatever (decent ;) ) picture you might have here in this thread if you want to do some tests. If you fail then you at least know one way that doesn’t work…

     

    The instructions for how to upload pictures can be found in the thread “Picture Size”. Thanks Kevin for trying to explain this, and bear with us who still struggle.. Now let’s see if I can get some pictures uploaded here!

  7. Should the Courier be an online magazine?

    I would probably not continue to be a member if the paper version was replaced by a PDF-file. I like my collection of Couriers, and would miss receiving it. But it sounds like a good idea to have a PDF version available on the homepage for members, some time after the paper version has been released. The homepages and forums are becoming more and more important for the survival of our club(s) and to add a PDf version of the courier would be great.

    Hi! I have a question about the limit for picture size. Will it remain to be max 50 kb per picture (500 kb total per member if I understand correct) or is there any plan to change this? I think 50 kb is ridiculous, it is just way too small, and the “work arounds” to use links etc is too complicated. I usually manage to reduce picture size to about 200-300 kb, but I find it almost impossible to make a picture smaller than 50 kb.

     

    I have also noticed that we have very little activity here on this forum, compared to other Triumph clubs and forums. Usually there is more activity during weekends, but even during weekends I sometimes find that there has only been one single topic added to this forum during the last 24 hours. And when I look at other Triumph forums, there can be one new topic every hour, and hundreds of new replies within the last 24 hours. Clearly this forum still suffers from being down for so long, and this 500 kb limit for pictures does not make it easier to get former members back.

     

    A new topic is always so much more interesting when members also add a picture, and often a picture is the only way to describe a technical problem that we want do discuss. Please increase the max limit for pictures! Given the lack of activity here on this forum I see no risk of “system overload”, but it might help to increase the number of new topics and posts from an alarmingly low level to a “normal healthy level”.

    Is it only me, missing this main topic (the club and forum) here? I think it could be a topic under “General” perhaps? Anyway, I think that it is great to finally have the forum up and running. Great job from those who made it happen, thanks!

     

    Also one thing I have noticed on the homepage: under “contact us” there is only one single e-mail address (info), and under “meet the team” none of the team members have added their e-mail, not even our “communications officer”. Is it meant to be that way? There are a lot more e-mail addresses in the Courier, why not put them on the homepage too? Just a thought…
