Triumph 1300 (Spitfire) engine into a Herald: Exhaust question:

Hi,

One issue which I haven't looked at yet, mainly because I've been too preoccupied with end floats and bearings, is what exhaust is required once I've slotted the 1300 unit into the Herald?

The manifold, obviously, is different, so there's no reusing the Herald 1200 set up.....

Therefore I'm hoping that someone on here has done this before and can tell me which exhaust or combination of exhaust parts I will need to fit?

One thing that (hopefully) will be simpler is the fact that the mounting for the carb on the inlet manifold is a side mounting, so the SU set up should go straight on........ fingers crossed........

I’ve not done this change. But that manifold is the same as the one used on a 13/60 so a standard 13/60 system would probably “just work”. Unless you have a Mk1 Herald chassis, in which case I’d be less sure cause I don’t know much about how they differ from the later ones.

Looking at the images on the Rimmer site I think you may be right.

I have put a 1500 into a herald 13/60 estate. I used a 1360 manifold which I believe is the same as your spitfire 1300. All you need is a 1360 front pipe, I think all herald back boxes are the same.
