euan douglas
Hi all Pretty simple query - before I dismantle anything I am assuming that the fuel leak through the overflow tube on the rear HS6 carb is probably due to a sticky needle valve? So, best to remove float chamber top and clean everything? Euan
johny
Have you installed a new fuel pump? These can produce too much pressure but if not a good start is to clean the needle valve and chamber plus check the float and its adjustment/operation.... Pete Lewis
yes i would check behind the needle valve body there are no rubber slivers hiding behind it
euan douglas
Johny and Pete - the PO rebuilt the engine but don't think the pump is new and anyway the overflow is only from the rear carb, the front overflow is dry (touch wood!) so inclined to think it's a sticky rear valve. Will dismantle rear and check for rubbish/sticky valve. Thanks both.

Ethanol in fuel eats the original brass needles in the float chambers too which can lead to leaks, you can get viton ones now from Burlen and others.
