ewj
On occasions the gear lever will not engage 4th yet on other occasions it works fine, all the other gears are OK. I have tried a gearlever and remote control overhaul kit but to no avail. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to the likely cause. johny
What happens exactly? Driving and cant change from 3rd to 4th because lever just wont move? Any graunching sounds when doing this? What happens if stationary with and without engine running? One first step is to drain and replace oil if not done recently and then have a good look at the old stuff... johny
just thought, you did replace the bushes in the lever operating rod when using the overhaul kit not just the ones at the bottom of the lever?
ewj
Johny: thanks for your response. Yes, lever will sometimes not move into 4th when changing up, no graunching sound though. Have not tried when stationary, will have a go tomorrow. Oil changed fairly recently. Everything in overhaul kit used up.
Wagger
Check the mechanism at the base of the lever. If the bolt is inserted the wrong way, it prevents lever moving enough to engage 4th. It is a common mistake on re-assembly.
