daverclasper
Hi. Richard. I am interested if your car is laid up for part of the year and wondered if this contributes to the faster pump failure rate, as my mum's Honda (well serviced) needed a new water pump after resting for 3 years?. Thanks, Dave
Guest
Hello Dave. It's an interesting point but I believe the demise of my pump is nothing more exciting than modern day quality; supplied by Canley but of course they are reliant on whoever put the pump together. My Alpine is laid up over the winter and has not suffered in years gone by. I use to have a very heavy metal 4-blade fan attached to the w/pump and that did take its toll on the pumps - a Rootes design weakness. I'm surprised about Honda, as with Nissan, I find the quality of their parts very good and long lasting in the main - perhaps just a duff unit Dave ?? However that said, 3yrs is a long time for something like a water pump not to see any activity. Plenty to debate I am certain !! Regards. Richard. Clive
Just had a thought. Unusual etc, but it happened. The pulley I have has no drillings for a fan. Implies it may well be a six cylinder type.... All will be revealed when we compare them on Wednesday at the meeting!
