mpbarrett Posted March 13, 2018 Report Posted March 13, 2018 I think I am about to give up on the original gearbox cover on my Herald. I have repaired it many times but it is falling to pieces. So where the best place to get a replacement, plastic or fibreglass. All suggestions welcome! cheers mike
Guest Posted March 13, 2018 Report Posted March 13, 2018 Mike. I believe the TSSC club shop sells them, although I have not checked to confirm that. Have you tried using glass fibre kit to repair the tunnel, which should on a successful outcome make the tunnel housing far more robust. I have a good tunnel (traditional material) and one that has seen better days - the latter of which I will be looking to "rebuild" using glass fibre matting and the appropriate resin. Both will be finished with Silent Coat heat / sound padding. Regards. Richard.
dougbgt6 Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 Mike, I have a polythene one from the TSSC shop, the do a Herald one for 90 squid. Worth sound/heat insulating it before installation. Doug
Waynebaby Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 Mike, I fitted a TSSC shop bought plastic gearbox tunnel to my GT6 this week and the fit was excellent. It's helps to ream out the screw holes in the tunnel to remove the moulding flashes. Wayne
