Pete Lewis
That throwout looks a flat faced one for a coil cover , hence the daft wide contact and over stroked damage as its never going to Operate a diaphragm correctly Pete

Pete Lewis
thats someones attempt to repair replace a failed pivot pin and the crinkle bushed tolerance ring that supposed to hold the pin in place, most would have used long bolt wit a shank, the head stops it dropping out on the road i guess the socket was used to compensate some degree of slave travel , the failed diaphragm and throw out might have needed a longer slave push rod sorry this is all down to wrong parts and some misguided messing up. pete
Richard Lambert
Good news engine back in went back easy but gearbox seemed to be wrong so engine mountings swapped round still no joy moved engine back and forth no joy consulted the manual in case I had missed something nothing Then out of the corner of my eye I spotted a photo of the gear leaver It should have a sharper bend so now on the lookout for the correct leaver or blowlamp and sledge hammer Lesson learned trust your first judgement and look for a simple fault.
