Anglefire
I’ve now got a set of spring compressors from the Club Shop and thought I would assemble the front struts. Once I’d actually got the bushes in the right place, they are quite easy to do.
Anglefire
What I don't know is what the top nut torque should be? I'm guessing not a fat lot as it has rubber mounts around it and a locking nut. And once on the car only has to control the weight of the unsprung weight? Pete Lewis
There is no figure in the wsm The top plate js 8-10lbft to turret The shaft nut is just normal hand tight as you are only pulling down to a shoulder on the shaft , not clamping faces Once tight nip up the locknut, use an adjustable to hold the flats on the shaft to stop its rotation Do make sure the rubber buffers are carefully located in the turret some have double cup washers that have a lip to locate in the turret If the shaft wears the bush and rubs on the turret you get a ride squeak that takes forever to locate .
