petegardner_901
Spitfire 1500 Just a quickie to get a couple of opinions... I am having trouble getting a smooth tickover. Compression test gives me: 1..........140 psi 2..........142 3..........130 4..........130 Do you reckon this justifies taking the head off? I'm quite happy to do that but it would be nice to think it's worth it... Pete
dave.vitesse
Probably not. I work look at other causes first. First check the colour of the plugs. e.g. Is it running rich or too weak, black or white, not brown as it should be. Is there any difference in the colour on the plugs, carb balance. Is there oil on any of the plugs. Dave
Pete Lewis
And poor running contaminates the spark plug insulator see the post about some current plug problems Many are having problems with plugs once fouled they never recouperate some now feel bosch are less problematic than ngk. dougbgt6
PeteG, No, not bad enough to start a strip down. Something else going on, as Dave and Pete say. I'd also be looking for manifold air leaks? Doug
