Roger89
I just filled up the1500 spitfire I just bought on the way home as it was showing empty. Only took a fiver and it was full to the brim. Gauge is showing just under 1/2 full now even though it's full. Guy I bought it off says he's put in a new tank sender. Where do I start? Clive
Run the car until the fuel level is well below the tank sender ,(behind the board in the boot) Take sender out, check it is fitted correctly. If it is, you may need to adjust the arm? You can check by moving the arm to see if the gauge will read full and empty. If not, you can swap the connections on the fuel and temp gauges (they are the same, just printed fuel or temp)and see if the gauge us faulty, or if it is the new sender. Worth checking the temp gauge us working correctly, if that is also reading low you could have a voltage regulator problem, both gauges fed from it. However, if it fails the gauges usually over-read. A few things to try..
