Hello Colin,

Try these:

https://www.rotatingelectrics.co.uk/

https://www.woodauto.com/range/Starters

I do have some auto electrician contacts who may be able to assist with a spare - I'm in the garage tomorrow and will look at my list for additional contacts.

Of note the second company link are out your way.

Wood auto are excellent.

Regards.

Richard.

Indeed they are - Long Cookstown, as the song goes. I might give them a call. New starters are from about £60 upwards, just in case it's not cost-effective to have this one repaired or source the part myself.

Thanks Richard.

Hello Colin,

Don't know how you got on today re the replacement ring, but these are the other contacts that may assist from my list:

Ribblesdale - www.ribblesdaleauto.co.uk - 01772.796.047 - good company and also keep a large selection of spares over the counter.

Smart Power - no website - 07747.830.444 Paul - not used this chap before but recommended

GS Autos - no website - 07860.514.021 Steve - he is a personal friend and a mobile mechanic who travels all over the UK - a Lucas apprentice and tradesman for decades who knows his stuff and likely to get / have that spare ring in your photo  !!

Hopefully the above should nail it.

Regards.

Richard.

Richard - thanks a lot for all your hard work; I'll follow those up over a coffee later.

Roger - no idea why it broke; the starter wouldn't turn so I stripped it down and found that part sheared. It could probably be welded but if a replacement is cheap enough it will save a lot of bother.
