hardhatharry
Anyone know the best method to remove the gum between the bonnet and wings prior to painting?
Badwolf
Is this the seam sealer between the top of the bonnet and the lower wing section?

Badwolf
I have just had a go at the mixture of paint and seam sealer on mine. First, flashed over with a paint stripping disc on an angle grinder, then treated with paint stripper deep into the seam. Remove what you can with a stripping knife. Repeat with more paint stripper. Wash off any remaining stripper with lots of soap & water using a wire brush or wire wool in the seam. Finish off with course wet & dry worked well into the seam on a flat blade (wallpaper stripper worked well) then wash again and dry off. I then brushed biltgamber hydrate 80 into the seam to kill any rust before priming.
