Philip Jordan
Good day, I'm looking to switch my 1300 saloon from a single to twin carburettors, ideally to simply make it a 1300TC! Is this a fairly easy switch and which set up is the best? Is it the twin carb set up from a 1300 Spitfire? Cheers
Clive
Yes, twin 1 1/4" SUs (HS2) But be aware there are other differences so bolting twin carbs will not make a lot, if any, difference to power. I am pretty certain camshaft, compression and possibly valve size are different. Exhaust manifold too??
thescrapman
Some of the early SC actually had a tubular manifold as standard, suspect it was got at by the bean counters. TC is cast iron standard one, You will need a different camshaft, but not as easy as just fitting a Mk3 / TC one, as they run in bearings, which your block doesn't have. Also compression is up a bit. Triumph also fitted the TC with a servo, I drove a TC with the servo removed many years ago, brakes weren't great.
Philip Jordan
So not a straight forward mod! I only intend using it to drive locally, the Vitesse is for the long runs out, it sounds far easier to leave standard. I do intend fitting a brake servo for round town driving though. Thank you for the feedback. Cheers
