AlanT
Hi All, Has anyone else got these metal cowls fitted? I can’t work out how! Appreciate a steer. Even if it’s to say you shouldn’t have bought them on eBay! Thanks Alan

AlanT
Ignore this! I’m an idiot. Had them the wrong way around. Cycled 50 odd miles this AM and am plainly not thinking straight!
Josef
So I think they’ll fit between the radiator and the big U shaped bracket that the radiator is mounted in. This is from memory of where the bits of plywood / hardboard a PO had fitted to my Spitfire as I don’t have the car to look at at the moment. AlanT
Like this Josef. Now I’ve worked it out…
NonMember
Yep, that's it, although from memory I thought they attached to the front of the radiator saddle rather than the back (i.e. move it forward an inch or two). Depends whether you have a captive nut in the right place on the chassis, I suppose.
AlanT
Yes, you’re right. The pic had it just sat in position. I need to drill out the original rivets before bolting in
Badwolf
I ended up making a pair from some sheet ali after the cardboard originals decomposed. Also make some side valances out of the same stuff...never did get around to putting them on. They look nice though...on the garage wall!!
AlanT
That’s interesting @Badwolf I thought they tended to overheat without them. I’m putting all 4 back.
