So if you push the inner fully into the cable it engages at the gearbox end and then wont turn? You could do this and drive the car to see if the inner spins - if so could be a faulty speedo...
-
Should undo from speedo but may need acrobatics in the footwell and some long nose pliers? Saying that theres a good chance the cable or angle drive have failed...

its rubber blocks on the driver seat and no clip and the reverse on the passenger side. Thinking being, logically the driver seat wont lift under braking and passenger doesnt need to see out of windscreen😁

1 is definitely 13/60, the other was said to be a 1300 Spit, engine and O/D gearbox. retero fitted some years ago.
Currently playing silly beggers, starts and runs then cuts out, pump is providing fuel, pumped about 1/2 litre into a can before lunch, decent spark too. Ran fine yesterday, hence my asking how much fuel is below the pickup?. As the tank has been out recently and only just on a gallon went back it. Might get another gallon just to check?.
Pete
if the pump provides fuel surely all must be ok in tank?

I agree, but both the new ones I have bought from different suppliers are like that so I suspect all the new ones probably are. They do vary a bit on price though so perhaps some are better. I suppose an option would be to find an original pump from an older car and do away with the spacer/gasket. Or, as suggested, go electric.
trouble with an original pump is the valves and diaphragm will be flagging unless renewed...

I think its getting it to seal which is the hard part and glue isnt really a good solution for a manufacturer...
-
There are other designs Cliff like the one from Paddock that I posted earlier but
a/ these might be made the same way or,
b/ theres no guarantee youll actually be sent that model.
Otherwise theres always electric....

Yes but are they 1500 Spitfires Pete? As so often Triumph found a cheaper alternative😁

Ive screwed a rubber strip in place as well to give a bit noise deadening when the seat slams down!
-
Ive just used that second type on a top ball joint and although a bit tight it did it fine so I think a track rod would be even easier...
-
Yes maybe something like this radiator overflow stub available in 6 or 8mm? Have to seal the thread though....
-
Without pressure youd think theyd be better but might not be the case I suppose as quite often they seem to leak when stationary...

All I can suggest is that you make sure the rubber hose has plenty of excess flex in the way of a loop so that it transmits as little vibration or stress to the pipe
-
That looks to be epoxy resin like araldite...
-
I think the originals were cast with the pipes in place so they were well and truly attached but the pattern part makers now bond them in after casting which is a lot easier but not so reliable☹️

Think to detach the glass you have to separate the two 607867 clips each end of the window regulator bar. Not sure if theyre screwed on or a press fit but you have to get round to exterior side of the glass.
The drawing is courtesy of Canley Classics and they also have one of the door glass itself...

Yes Im guessing its this type to be used with a spacer block?

I think stainless inherently makes exhausts noisier as the metal can be thinner. Then to keep the cost down after market units are made with the absolute minimum of internals (and possibly thought)....
-
I wonder if our water pumps are less likely to start leaking with waterless as theres no pressure? Ive had a few seals go and of course the only remedy is to replace the complete pump (or alternatively go for the mechanical seal upgrade which I havent tried yet)....
-
I think it was probably a manufacturing fault and the pipe had never properly bonded in. However losing a measureable amount of fuel requires quite leak and it would absolutely stink!
-
Even better but give the pipes of the spare a good tug first😁
-
Im sure it could be repaired with epoxy metal Cliff but you cant really take the risk and the cost of a replacement pump is minimal. Only possible problem with a new item is that some people have found they produce too much pressure so causing their carburettor float valves to leak...

Filter has to be really, really bad to block up especially when engine running no load and anyway it pumps fuel doesnt it? How long does it run for?
