1 is definitely 13/60, the other was said to be a 1300 Spit, engine and O/D gearbox. retero fitted some years ago.

Currently playing silly beggers, starts and runs then cuts out, pump is providing fuel, pumped about 1/2 litre into a can before lunch, decent spark too. Ran fine yesterday, hence my asking how much fuel is below the pickup?. As the tank has been out recently and only just on a gallon went back it. Might get another gallon just to check?.

    Pete

if the pump provides fuel surely all must be ok in tank?

I agree, but both the new ones I have bought from different suppliers are like that so I suspect all the new ones probably are. They do vary a bit on price though so perhaps some are better. I suppose an option would be to find an original pump from an older car and do away with the spacer/gasket. Or, as suggested, go electric.

trouble with an original pump is the valves and diaphragm will be flagging unless renewed...

  3. There are other designs Cliff like the one from Paddock that I posted earlier but

a/ these might be made the same way or,

b/ theres no guarantee youll actually be sent that model.

    Otherwise theres always electric....

  4. I think the originals were cast with the pipes in place so they were well and truly attached but the pattern part makers now bond them in after casting which is a lot easier but not so reliable☹️

  5. Think to detach the glass you have to separate the two 607867 clips each end of the window regulator bar. Not sure if theyre screwed on or a press fit but you have to get round to exterior side of the glass.

The drawing is courtesy of Canley Classics and they also have one of the door glass itself...

  6. I wonder if our water pumps are less likely to start leaking with waterless as theres no pressure? Ive had a few seals go and of course the only remedy is to replace the complete pump (or alternatively go for the mechanical seal upgrade which I havent tried yet)....

  7. I think it was probably a manufacturing fault and the pipe had never properly bonded in. However losing a measureable amount of fuel requires quite leak and it would absolutely stink!

  8. Im sure it could be repaired with epoxy metal Cliff but you cant really take the risk and the cost of a replacement pump is minimal. Only possible problem with a new item is that some people have found they produce too much pressure so causing their carburettor float valves to leak...
