Yes deffo aluminium and think someone has been bodging it before. You can see in the manual theyre much chunkier than that...

In my case no but it may for other engine setups.
With my downloaded wsm I have now renewed my relationship with my carbs....🤪
Yes Ive thought before that on idle the butterflies mech is resting on the throttle stops but at revs they are held open by the cable so may actually go out of the carefully set idle balance...
-
Doesnt look like theres much to get hold of! You might be able to start threading a suitable size bolt in the centre hole of the remaining filter end plate or hook something in to pull it out...
-
Did you see much change in balance between idle and 2500rpm Iain?
-
Not a bad idea but dont know if flow meters can handle that....
-
Finding the correct size washer might be difficult as dont think theyre listed by thickness. You might be able to measure yours and then get a supplier to do the same for theirs, oooerr! Doesnt matter if it sits slightly low...
-
Thatll do it👍

Are you using the workshop manual Iain as it shows exactly what controls the jet bush height and what you can remove to change it....
-
Also I think any slight difference at idle passes into insignificance as the butterflies open up more when driving....
-
Whats the epoxy for? Trouble with that surface is it could wear any seal quite quickly and of course is smaller than design...
-
Trouble is it makes it more difficult to know exact spec like compression, cam, valve sizes, crank bearing sizes etc but then for many of us these can have modified over the years...

And youll run a lot better after Pete👍

But dont leave it too long before another outing or it sulk again!

Strange but nothing for it but remove flywheel. Bush has to be good fit in crank...
-
That looks like it was worn and someone has tried to resurface it by grinding which of course will make it smaller and rougher! Could possibly be saved using a speedisleeve but god knows what size it is now...
-
Does the crank hole feel bigger than the flywheel hole ie is there a lip?
-
Ha we're getting there, just one last bit of the puzzle. 3.27 ratio diffs were used in all models of GT6 without OD (some did have it even with OD) and they came with 6 and 4 hole casings depending on fixed or swing spring back axle.
-
Believe Paul is referring to the ventillation system box which can divert air up or down using the knob on the dash...
-
Think we're getting confused here. Rotaflex is a fixed spring not a swing spring so should have a diff with six hole fixing....
-
Pretty much have to as no drain plug and sucking out is a pain....
-
I would say only replace rear bushes if really shot as they can look ugly but last longer than some replacements?
-
Six stud is the correct one for rotaflex
-
The jury is out on whether its safe to use a 4 hole case on a fixed spring as it might apply more stress to the fixings...

So theres an air gap under the piston but I suppose not enough to affect anything?

What did the crank bearings look like? If copper is showing through anywhere you need to replace asap or itll be a regrind as well☹️
