Nice work.
Front suspension rebuild i've been asked to do on a TR4.
Now i'm busy of the rear suspension on a TR5 PI.
I see you mentioning Colin Wake, know him to.
Been to his house several years ago on a UK trip with Fox, met him in september at the finish of the 10 Countries Run in the Netherlands.
He's a very nice guy 😉

It is a metal one, just waiting for warmer days to refit it. When I removed it I could see that it hadn't quite caught properly on all of the corners but wasn't noticeable when on, will keep an eye on those when I refit, it's not easy but well worth it.
I've bought a metal one 2 years ago from ebay.
Let me know how you get on with it.
Do want to fit mine on Fox when its gets paint... whenever that will be 😅

I've made the same access hatch as you (after playing far too many times with the clutch slave and striping the interior). I note you're using the expensive stuff in the clutch hydraulics, brave of you, or deep pockets ;). Great idea with the elastic cable thing to keep the carpet out of the way, mind if I copy it ?
Im using dot 5 as I have a history of using 5 or 6 clutch master in 6 months...
Since then using dot 5 and now the masters seem to last a year.
But... I dont buy the expensice dot 5 that suppiers sell.

Even a year is pretty rubbish… I’ve never had to replace a master cylinder on a modern (up to about 15ish year old) car. They must be making the seals out of second hand plasticine or something!
Years ago I went through i think 5 masters in 6 or 7 months.
I had one that failed after 1 week.
Bought county, trw ones and even a willwood one.
And was using dot 4.
Eventually bought county again and dot 5.
Then they lasted about a year.
On my mother her 2005 KA, still original clutch hydraulics.
But one done 60k miles.
Mine has a bit more.. 😅
Sadly it seems I need to bleed some more, the feel is still not good.
A job for tomorrow 😅

Few days ago noticed some fluid leaking of my pedal 😅
Master was fitted november 2021.
So a year and a month old, good going !
They usually last around a year on Fox.
And im using dot 5 silicone fluid.
Fitted a new Bastuck clutch master and we will see how it goes.
Time to order another spare.
Tested the starter i've rebuild, works very good.
So we got more spare parts.

Just the day before (9 sept) the finish of the Club Triumph 10 Countries Run, my gearbox started to fail.
So rushed and fitted my spare box, so could drive for to the finish in the Netherlands to see them all arrive.
Now rebuilded that failed gearbox.
Front bearing fell apart as did the springs etc from the 3/4th syncro hub.
Ironicly a guy I knew had brought over some gearbox bearings for me 😅
Some pics..

Ok.
Will measure it all up and see.
But will weld a piece of metal outside the chassis, so its stronger then before.
Space is tight.
But think there is just enough space to do it.
It will be a job for after christmas !

Yesterday helped a friend getting his rear suspension apart on his TR5 PI.
Found a crack in the right rear top spring mount
Ive heard and welded up the stress cracks on TR250/TR5/TR6's on the front suspension previously.
But cant find any of the rear top spring mount..
So.. how to best weld this up ?

The last week with the freezing cold, Fox did it great.
But... after a night standing or after work, started up slow.
Sometimes starter even stopped !
Had a look at the engine earth.
No real difference.
Then the day after removed the battery disconnect switch that is on Fox,but really never use it.
Now starts on the button !
Even fully frozen over and -6, no problemo!
Today helped a friend with his TR5 PI.
Play in driveshafts, prop, rusty underneath etc etc.
So going to get everything apart and replace whats bad, de-rust & repaint the underside etc
But again we found more work then we hoped, but it needs to be done 😅

-5 degrees this morning..
No problem for Fox !
Starting is a bit slow sometimes (need to check sll connections).
But drives very well.
Glad I changed out the 82° thermostat for an 88° one.
Nice warm heater !
Last night tested the fogs again.. nice and bright !
Now enough said about rear fog lights 😅
