  1. Ordered some parts and they arrived today!

So another 'project'... yes I got to many.

(Thinking of a new dash to the last 2 weeks 😅 )

This will be build up as 'Spare assembly'.

Honestly I can say that i'm rebuilding these shafts.

I knew a local so called Triumph Specialist that swaped over half shafts (and many other parts) between a Spit he sold and his private car 🙄 .

are you going to pipe some sealer in the glass channel and under the body lip flip

just use a cheap gutter sealer pipe till it oozes out  a whiz with scraper and wipe with white spirit   cheap and works as done by the assy line

    Pete

    Something like this ?

My main this is.. screen needs to come out for paint anyway.

When that will be... really dont know 🙄😔

But my think is.. is the sealant easy to remove then..

Maybe better put some 'dumdum' around it.

There is guy in Blegny near the German border call Cai (nickname Dyngo) that has 3 floors of spares often from US cars that are rust free... I can give you his contact if you ever need it... Speaks French, English and Dutch and I assume Flemish (he is Dutch)

I know Cai to, bought some parts from him.

Really want to visit him for a few years, very helpfull guy !

Ron Verlaan in the Netherlands I know to, helpes me out from time to time 😆.

    Or barn...

He used to be based near here... now he is up north... still, in many ways one of the best places as he would not sell something he wouldn't put it on his car himself...

I only discoverd him since brexit..

But he does give a great service.

One time something different arrived then what I ordered.

I needed to send it back and he paid the shipping , sended the right parts straight away.

He does have some rare parts at very good prices to, even NOS.

    Hello all

The Fitchetts ones are still going strong I will look later at how many mils they have done!

But we have done over 6000 miles this year! (Spain and Spa 6hours etc)

    Roger

I have full assemblies from TD Fitchett fitted in 2018.

    Now done 57.000miles 😅😅

I just wanted 1 or 2 rebuild shafts as spare part.

  6. Yesterday got dome more half shafts apart..

The 2 that where under Fox until 2018 and did 160.000miles.

    First one not so bad.

But could feel an little edge..

then the second one... think this made most of the noise in 2018..

My new hub puller did it great.

Did have another rusty half shaft.

Noticed the hub was bend and lots of play at the bearings, 150% sure shaf is scrap.

So... a lot of scrap in this post 😅

  7. Had a look at some old half shafts i've had laying about.

Took the one with lots od play (and missing hub) first to take apart.

I already knew that the shaft would have been scrap.

And oh yes... lots of scoring.

Still need to take the other 3 shafts apart now.

Build up 1 bearing carrier with new bearings etc.

As I had bearing kits in my stock for years.

Next week I can use a press and impact, so that would make it easier.

Test fitted my new hub puller to.

And repainted a bunch of parts.

This is a job I wanted to do for many years, just want 1 or 2 spare rebuild shafts laying about.

  8. Found this online

Went after a potentiometer and tested my gauge

Well nearly spot on empty needs adjusting.

    But first found another problem.

Seems the 10v feed and wire to sender was switch over on the gauge..

After I switched them, the readings where better with the potentiometer.

Sadly cant find out where the wires should go, pics on the internet doesnt help.

Last pic, 20ohm and showing full.

Unfortunately I think you'll have to do two forms of adjustment Wimpus as the needle needs to go further in both directions! Does it go to full with the sender wire to earth and empty when open circuit?

When I fitted the new sender it wasnt right to.

Needed to band the arm to get sort of the same reading at the original one.

    I adjusted empty and full.

    First pic with connectors loose

2nd pic with jumper wire to earth.

  10. Im still surprised of all the switch gear that works so brilliant 😅

Now to fix the (only a bit) dodgy fuel gauge.

Full is 3/4 for tge past 5 to 6 years.

Now with the new sender the same, but empty is still a bit to high.

Found out you can adjust the gauge.

So had a go at that, made an temporary extention on the gauge wiring.

    So could adjust it easier.

Will see now how it works out 🙃 .

  11. For years I had problems with my horn not working very well.

Found out the stalk/switch always burned it.

    Now I was getting annoyed..

So fitted a relay and now works great !

And no load on the switch anymore.

Found a good, non broken indicator/high beam/horn stalk in my stock.

Cleaned all the contacts etc and now works, just need to fit it.

Current one has loads of play..
